Book Description

October 1999
A collection of 18 short Civil War ghost stories by 18 of contemporary horror's greatest purveyors of terror.

Though we tend to think of the war in terms of battles and strategies, this book focuses on the human element, both of the soldier and those left behind to care for the family. These stories aim for the heart and soul of of the people behind all wars, focusing particularly on those men who never made it home and of the families who continue to wait, if only in that murky world of the afterlife. A testament to the endurance and love of the human spirit.

This book features some established and up-and-coming writers, including Julie Anne Parks, Owl Goingback, and Stephen Lee Climer. Very nice layout from a professionally-minded small press.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bedtime Stories Not Recommended for the Faint of Heart, November 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dead Promises (Paperback)
Our passion for an era long passed into the chasm of time, and our sorrow for those left cold and dead on the battlefield blend into a shadowy possibility - they're still there waiting to go home - to keep the promises made to their loved ones. Dead Promises is a masterful anthology that may be more fact than fiction. After reading the title story, Dead Promises, I considered leaving the lights on when I went to bed. This anthology is a great read!
