Knowing Nelson cut no slack with me. I've been reading Cop books since a was a young guy. I'm used to the best, McBain, Cornwell, Wabaugh etc. But I honestly can state that the only reason that i didn't give it 5 stars was I was looking for the hook to the next crime scene in his next book. I guess I didn't want the bad guy caught yet!
I actually went to an autospy with him a hundred years ago. It was a "Crispy Critter", a burn victim. Nelson was the best teacher on pointing out certain things to be noted that might be helpful in the investigation. Cool man, very cool.
I'll bet the Miami cops miss him a bunch.
Like I said no slack,I want another and soon!! Get going Andreu

Having lived most of my life in the greater Miami area, I have always been facinated with Detective novels. A friend recommended 'Dead Red' last week. Was I glad she did! After having read dozens of police novels I finally found one that truly explains the inside workings of a real case. This is one book you will not want to put down. A big Hoorah to Nelson Andreu for this superb novel!

As an avid reader of `Detective Novels' I was given a pre-release copy of "Dead Red" by a close friend. I must admit I was kept on the edge of my seat as I turned the pages! The procedures the author lays out in this novel are OUTSTANDING! I guess every writer of detective novels should research their facts before writing. In the case of "Dead Red," the author has first hand knowledge based on his experience in the field. I highly recommend all of you who like Detective type novels to pick up a copy of Nelson Andreu's new book.

Andreu gives you the real story, the way it is, the inside scoop on a murder investigation. How it is done and how it is supposed to happen. Then he captivates you with what REALLY happens through realistic characters and situations. Dead Red will get you involved.

When I found out that Nelson had written a book I almost couldn't contain myself I was so excited. I've known Nelson since I was a little girl and reading his book confirmed what I have always suspected of him. He is brilliant! Dead Red reaffirmed all of my thoughts about what being a "cop" really is. It kept me wanting to read on even when I could barely stay awake.

I picked up a copy of DEAD RED this weekend at the Miami Book Fair and am I glad I did. For the past few days I have been glued to the pages of this book. All I read are thriller/detective novels and this is one of the best I've ever read! You have to get this one!

I must confess, I almost NEVER read fiction, but I must say, Dead Red has surpassed my expectations by FAR! The author, Mr Nelson Andreu, has done a superb job with creativity of scenes, use of words, and suspense. It is also very tasteful, and as clean as a novel about a homicide can get. The characters where outstanding, and for myself, being from Miami, it was a pleasure to relate to the settings in which the story takes place. I found myself not being able to put the book down, and I can't remember the last time I read a book so quickly and eagerly. Two thumbs up! A must read.

Dead Red is an incredible novel that portrays Homicide work at its best! This is an OUTSTANDING novel for a first time author. Great work.....when will #2 be available, I can't wait.

Having just finished reading "Dead Red," I can honestly say the author has expertly used his homicide experience in writing this novel. It kept me reading late into the night for several days. This is a MUST READ!
