Good songs.. poor recording,

I keep thinking with this album how much it should have sounded and that would have made the songs come more alive, especially his duet with Cher. There are a couple decent songs here Read 'Em and Weep, Dead Ring for Love and More than You Deserve. Yet the quality of the recordings is less than desirable and Meat Loaf's voice sounds hollow. I think this album more than any of his other work could use re-work though. For people looking for Meat loaf albums outside of the Bat Out of Hell trilogy Bad Attitude or Welcome to the Neighborhood are good choices.

I love the bombastic qualities of Bat Out Of Hell, but this showcases a lot more versatility in both Meat's voice and the Neverland Express band. I get most of the songs stuck in my head and I don't even mind because they are great.

I found this album in Europe years before it was commonly available here and was immediately taken with it. A continuation of the Meatloaf/Steinman collaboration, But without the biker feel that is immediately felt with BOH. But it's still Meatloaf at his loud, rockin best. The Meatloaf purists may not think much of this album, But then they are fixated og BOH. If you enjoy the entire spectrum of Meatloaf's music, this is an album not to be missed. The poem Nocturnal Pleasures alone is worth the price of the album. No, Dead Ringer is not Bat Outta Hell. But then BOH was to biggest of his albums and perhaps the best. But not the only good one.

Don't expect Bat Out of Hell, but enjoy it just the same,

This album showcases Meat's vocal variety, and the talents of the band really well. The songs are a bit on the melancholli side, but if you don't get too wrapped up in the lyrics, you can appreciate the musical talent. I'm Gonna Love Her for Both of Us is a song about rescuing a woman from a man who doesn't treat her right. More Than You Deserve is about finding out that his woman is cheating on him with his best friend. Read 'Em and Weep has to be the ultimate break-up song. These are just some of my favorites on the album.
If you're expecting Bat Out of Hell, you'll be disappointed, but I'm sure most Meat Loaf fans will really appreciate adding this to their collection.

This album was terrible. No stand out songs or hits, just pathetic compared to BOH.
