The short sequels Dying to Run and Running Home are now available for only $.99.

"Dead Running was everything I was hoping it would be, captivating, invigorating, and a page turner that I could not, would not, put down! Cami Checketts writes books that will make you think, and make you feel. She captivated me with The Sister Pact, and doesn't lose speed with her newest 'must read', Dead Running."

Book Reviewer - Book Journey

"Dead Running can make a claim not many mystery/thrillers can, and that is that it is also really funny. I loved everything about the book. There was murder, romance, family bonds, 5K training, humor, good guys, bad guys, and an ending that left room for a sequel."

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun romantic comedy, with a side of suspense! May 15, 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I personally think that the book's description is a little misleading. Though the storyline is all there, it fails to describe the humorous side that made me fall in love with the book! I so enjoyed the lighthearted edge lining everything from being chased by murderous "Muscle Men" to swooning over "Dr. Tattoo". It was such a fun read and left me wanting more!

One of my favorite parts of this book was the characters, especially the main character Cassidy (Cassie) Christensen. She is hilarious! Her character is sassy, sarcastic, and completely accident prone (which results in more than one embarassingly awkward situation!) And even though her running journey is full of hilarious episodes, I admired her determination and strength as she trained for a marathon and eventually accomplished her goals.

I also enjoyed the characterization of even the minor roles. They are each unique and charming in their own way. There is Cassie's grandma who is definitely not your average "sweet little old lady". She is sharp and sassy (wonder who Cassie gets it from?!) and no-nonsense. She doesn't take crap from anyone and was probably the only character that Cassie was actually really afraid of (including the men who were trying to kill her!)

Then there's Elizabeth or "Hot Redhead" as Cassie dubs her. She's a perky little fireball with a perfect body and an unhealthy attachment to Cassie. At times, she acts completely nuts and that's why I loved her!

And don't even get me started on Cassie's two love interests! Do men like that even exist?! Hot, tempting, and completely swoonworthy!

Dead Running is a fast paced read, full of fun and quirky characters and plenty of action.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! January 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
After witnessing an attack on her father's life, Cassidy Christensen is never the same. When both her parents are killed in cold blood, her life is completely turned upside down. She now lives with her grandmother. Her brother's family doesn't live far away. They are all very close, but Cassidy feels as if something is missing from her life. She wins an entry into the Utah Marathon and begins an intensive training program in preparation.

As Cassidy continues her training, she finds herself right in the middle of a human trafficking ring with many shady characters and a few weirdoes too. There's hot Dr. Jesse who is covered in tattoos. The handsome Damon and the very jealous "Hot Redhead" who continually warns Cassidy to stay away from Damon. Let's not forget Muscle Man who is trying to kill Cassidy.

It's not long before Cassidy realizes her entire family is in danger. She has no intentions of losing her grandmother, brother, sister-in-law and her nephew the same way she lost her parents. However, danger seems to lurk at every corner. Distracting her are the hot men she meets - Jesse and Damon. She's attracted to them both, but she's not sure she can even trust them.

What a page turner this book is! I kept reading and finished it in two days - I never read that fast. I loved everything about this book from the characters to the storyline. There was a great mix of romance, mystery and humor. What a well-rounded book. It's a clean, romantic suspense that keeps you guessing. I kind of had my suspicions about the real "culprits", but Cami put it together in one nice package with a bow on it. Absolutely adored this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great clean romatic suspense story! May 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Wow! This was an edge of your seat, really who's the bad guy, laugh out loud romantic suspense! I'm so glad I got this on my Kindle! It was a great escape from the messiness that is my house right now and encouraged me to start running again. I love to run, but doubt that I'll ever run a marathon-that makes me cringe! It was interesting seeing how she really felt about the guys that were after her and I liked that she tried to be careful, but wanted to live anyway! Great book with a very happy ending!
