Producer Daniel Lanois speaks about the making of "Le Noise"

Biography

This is an artist, ever in the moment, fully grounded, firmly rooted, renewing the ... Read more in Amazon's Neil Young Store

5.0 out of 5 stars dead man September 30, 2001
Format:Audio Cassette|Verified Purchase
the attraction to this soundtrack may have alot to do with the fact that i really loved the movie. its just like someone elses dream you got caught in the middle of for a couple hours and the soundtrack is well done. neal youngs garage-band guitar made somehow drifty like the ocean, lyical sound-bites and bits of poetry. watch the movie.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice mood, good music, still lacking... July 13, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I, as much as any other reviewer here, love Neil Young and loved the Jarmusch picture it comes from, but an entire album? Its great, musically, until the poetry read by Johnny Depp, and stulifying scenes inexplicably lifted wholesale from the film (did we really need an aural rehash of Iggy Pop and Billy Bob Thornton's scene??). Young's haunted, dusky main theme completed the movie in a way no other artist could have..the soundtrack just could've used some more of the intellectual eroticism the movie had. Main theme-5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A TRIP ON NEIL'S JOURNEY April 24, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I THOUGHT IT WAS AN EXCELLENT SOUNDTRACK THAT WAS PURE NEIL AT HIS BEST. ANY FAN WOULD APPRECIATE THIS EXPLOSION OF GUITAR SOUNDS THAT TICKLE THE MIND WITH SUSPENCE. I WANTED THE COLLECTORS EDIT TO CHECK OUT THE PICTURES INCLUDED.

1st - I want to know what the difference is between the Special Edition CD and the Regular CD?
2nd- It doesn't appear that any versions of this beautiful Soundtrack has the films Opening Track, Dead Man Main Theme. I can't wrap my head around why this track was left out from the soundtrack as it is all over YouTube with many people doing guitar covers of this track that isn't even on the Soundtrack, only in the Opening sequence of the film.
And it is only for this reason I didn't give the whole 5 stars even though it is a 5 Star Soundtrack.
Anybody who can give answer to my questions I'd greatly be indebted to you.

2.0 out of 5 stars a soundtrack for your nightmares August 7, 1998

Format:Audio CD
a soundtrack that is as wierd as the movie itself. there are some good pictures of neil looking pretty ugly though, and that makes it all worthwhile. although the special packaging is pretty neat, this is for diehard fans only.
