5.0 out of 5 stars 27 Minutes of Pure Bliss, August 6, 2007

This review is from: The Dead Will Walk, Dear (Audio CD)
The first release by the National Lights leaves you wanting more, but never feeling cheated. There isn't a wasted note on this album. The Dead Will Walk, Dear accomplishes in 27 minutes what most bands can't do in 40, which is grab you and hold you for an entire album, possessing you to hit play again as soon as it finishes. Envoking the more somber songwriting moments of acts like Iron & Wine and Whiskeytown, the National Lights strikes the perfect balance in orchestrating their songs. The addition of the stunning guest vocals of Sonya Cotton is the perfect finishing touch to 10 amazing songs. There's no point in listing the best songs because The Dead Will Walk, Dear doesn't let up one bit from beginning to end.

The Dead Will Walk, Dear has a guaranteed place atop my favorite albums of 2007.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly dynamic, clever, and worth a listen, March 21, 2008

This review is from: The Dead Will Walk, Dear (Audio CD)
Coming from a college student who listens to every type of music, it can be said with confidence that this is one of the best artists of 2007, and one of the best albums to have come along in a while. The dark, historical meaning behind the lyrics only add to the beautifully orchestrated tunes that are mixed with bittersweet male and female vocals in every song. So, sit back and listen, because this is one debut worth immersing yourself in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully haunting, February 8, 2008
This review is from: The Dead Will Walk, Dear (Audio CD)
The National Lights have easily been my best 'discovery' of 2007. All ten of these tracks are utterly beatiful and the harmonies create a wonderfully haunting atmosphere. While the lyrics do seem a little morbid to say the least, the album is strangely uplifting to listen to. No song disappoints. A stunning debut.
