Terrible,
By breezyday (up North) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Dead Won't Hurt You---Or Will They?: A True Tale of a Family's Haunting (Paperback)
I have been studying paranormal phenomenon for 30 years. From the hundreds of books that I have read on the topic, I feel pretty qualified to be able to weed out the junk. And this was indeed junk. Poorly written, boring, not scary at all, I had trouble getting through it. The dialogue was totally stiff and unrealistic. I was distracted by her huge gaps in time, the fact that there was a disclaimer in the beginning telling the readers that her friend helped her write this book and used some of her own "experiences" in the first person - "as if" they had really happened to the author instead of her friend. What is the purpose of THAT?! Her children played such a minute part of the book that we didn't learn her son's name until the end after he was moved out. (She mentions a "Jamie" towards the end and I had to try to figure out who it was.) Did her kids have ANY strange experiences in all the years they lived there? They were barely mentioned! Most of the things that happened to the women seemed either subjective or wildly embellished. Too many examples of "conversations" with friends and neighbors who asked her about the same things, word for word as how the authors described an incident previously, as if they need to "prove" that someone else saw or felt these things too. All of the photos of the orbs in their yard - notice that the majority of the pictures contain orbs on the RIGHT side of the frame. She needs to clean her camera lens. There is a huge difference in the way orbs present themselves in photos as opposed to pieces of dust. These "orbs" are dust.
I only give it one star because that ws the lowest rating I could give. It doesn't really deserve any.

One of the worst....,

I've read just about every book of this type on the market, new and old. I've never felt compelled to write a "review," but I had to in this case: this book is just awful. It was so bad, I threw it away lest it accidentally end up in someone else's hands and they waste valuable time reading it!

I didn't like this book as well as some others mainly because the woman narrating didn't live in the house thru most of the book she just visited at times and it wasn't like a on going haunting. Also I feel she got away from the main topic of the haunting alot with useless chatter. It was o.k. but not the greatest.
