Sewell Deadbolt Banana Plugs

Get the most out of your home audio system by ensuring the best connection from your speaker cable to your receiver with the Sewell Deadbolt Banana plugs. Using self crimping teeth these plugs provide a simple, secure, and low profile connection without requiring soldering or screws. These 1.6 inch plugs are extremely low profile making it so you can put your speakers or receiver closer to the wall.

What Are Banana Plugs?

Today, many electronics use the banana plug interface, also known as binding post (referring to this connection in its female form). This female binding post connection that accepts this banana plug is found commonly on virtually all audio/video receivers, speaker wall plates, and more.

What are the Advantages to Using Banana Plugs?

Banana plugs offer an alternative to inserting a bare speaker wire into the equipment. Often a bare speaker connection is not as reliable as a guaranteed banana plug connection. Wires tend to get pulled out or frizzy after time passes. Banana plugs require only one install, giving you a permanent and robust connector at the end of your speaker wire.

Specifications: 24k Gold Plating on Connector and Crimping Teeth; Pure, High Density Copper Connector; Heavy Duty Brass (black) Casing; Maximum accepted AWG: 8 AWG (10 AWG suggested); Maximum Jacket AWG: 2 AWG~ (1/4 inch)

Connect Anything
How to Install Deadbolt Banana Plugs:
  • Unscrew the cap of the Deadbolt Banana Plug.
  • Feed the bare conductor of the speaker wire through the center hole of the banana plug.
  • Bend the wires of the speaker wire down around the teeth for the best connection.
  • Replace the cap to secure the Deadbolt banana plug to the speaker wire.
  • Our Deadbolt Banana Plug is ready for connection.

All in all you should only need 30 seconds for this entire operation.

I used these with a 5.1 Energy Take Classic speaker system and a relatively cheap AV receiver, and these banana plugs worked great.

Used these connectors to convert my system from older binding post connectors, and as other reviewers have noted, it takes about 30 seconds per terminal to install these connectors and let me assure you, the "Deadbolt" name really sums it up. Tighten these once and the're done. These connectors appear to be exactly the same and the "Monster" brand connectors with the exception of the name band that says "Sewell". IMHO if you are looking for a easy to install, high performance connector, you've found it!!

Sewell offers 3 types of Banana Plugs all at the same price point with quality / ease of use being the difference.

As Follows: Great Quality Connection / Easiest Set Up "Sewell Deadbolt Banana Plugs with Fast-Lock Technology"
Better Quality Connection / Harder Set Up "Sewell Pro Maestro Banana Plugs w/Gold Connectors"
Best Quality Connection / Hardest Set Up "Sewell Silverback Banana Plugs Dual Screw Lock"

Understand the difference/benefit that each offers in each category is very minimal, For example Silverback offers the closest to a soldered connection as possible but you would be hard pressed to hear the difference from the other two.

Deadbolt's "Fast Lock Technology" will save you time connecting the wires (1 minute at most) to (5-15 minutes if someones misplaced your screwdriver)

I picked ease of connection over quality knowing I'll never hear the difference anyways, Also I prefer the shorter base of the "Deadbolt" design.

Just what I was looking for. I had a set of rocketfish plugs from bestbuy at 20 bucks for 4 of them. Although they are good plugs, these are much easier to install. These took me around 30 seconds per wire to install. The connection with the speaker wire is very strong and sturdy. Also, the connection between the plug and the speakers binding posts is very secure. If you are on a budget, and dont want to pay for monster or rocketfish plugs, this is the way to go. Highly recommended.

These are exactly the same (or better) quality as the higher priced ones from the expensive cable and wire manufacturer. Heavy and easy to assemble. They fit 10 gauge wire perfectly.

These are quite impressive.. Sewell makes another set a bit larger than these that look very nice, but they're a bit longer than these too. I like these for the fact that they are super easy to use, just strip the wire, insert the bottom part over the wire, bend the wire a little bit over the bottom part teeth, screw on the top piece, and you're done. Their small size and ease of use makes them really fast to put on while making it easy to use the banana plugs on receivers or speakers.

I found a similar set at a few different stores, and they were quite a lot pricier than these for less. I don't think any of the top name brands will deliver any better audio quality.. as long as the wire is on the metal contact of any plug tightly, it should result in great audio.

I ordered 2 sets, just ordered a 3rd (two receivers, one is 5.1, another is 7.1). I think I'll have enough, a few extra if I am lucky.

I purchased these banana plugs along with some 12 AWG speaker wire and put together some excellent looking cables to go from my wall plugs to the receiver. With the use of some shrink wrap, these cables look every bit as nice as cables costing 2-3 times as much. Thes plugs are very simple to install and the connections are tight and solid.

not compatible with all wall plugs, but compatible with all speakers and equipment I have. Holds the wire securely and is able to accommodate 10 gauge wire. Easy to work with.

I really like how these banana plugs are designed; it makes it very easy to connect a speaker wire. It seems to work great with thinner and thicker wires (AVG 18 and AVG 14 in my case). For comparison, I used double banana plugs from RadioShack, and while they worked, they kept unscrewing all the time, and the connection did not look so clean.

I used these banana plugs with a few receivers (Marantz and Denon) and speakers (JBL Studio 1 and Wharfedale), they worked perfectly fine in all cases.

For thinner wires you can either split the wire itself in two parts, or even simply bend it to one side and then screw the top on (this will probably make better sense once you start connecting the wires).

Great product, highly recommended. As a matter of fact, I bought a second pack as 12 pairs were not enough for my few HT systems.
