5.0 out of 5 stars Good and interesting stories from the crab fishermen.
This is filled with great stories from the crab fishermen and boat captains of Deadliest Catch. There is a little bit of everything here, told by the guys themselves, and in their own styles: some stories are sad, some are funny, some of them keep you right on the edge of your seat, and all of them are interesting. Whether you are familiar with Deadliest Catch or not,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a lot of new stories here
Good quick read--but too much stuff you've already seen on the show--all the biographical info. would like to have read more about behind the scenes and anecdotes. But a light hearted quick read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great adventure stories by the Captains of Bering Sea.........., June 24, 2008

GREAT book, fast read, couldn't put it down, laughed, cried, held my breath at times, it is like sitting with them "After the Catch". Phil Harris's dental work was much too painful for me! After living on Kodiak Island for almost a dozen years, 3 tours of Coast Guard aviation duty with my husband, now retired, this book was like being there again. We are faithful Deadliest Catch viewers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!!!!!!!!!!, May 2, 2008
This review is from: Deadliest Catch: Desperate Hours (Paperback)
As I have been watching this tv show, since before it was called Deadliest Catch, and have all 3 seasons on DVD, I had to purchase this book. I also bought the Time Bandit Book and read them both in approx. 4 days. This is a very interesting book. It is really very good. It does let the Capts. speak on various subjects. For anyone who not just loves the excitement of the show, this book gives information about the Capts. and their crews.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST SO FAR!!, July 9, 2011
I love the show..I enjoyed Capt. Sig's and the Hillstralnds books, but so far this is the best for me.
It had more personal information about the Capts and crew, with peeps into their homes and lives off the show..and let's face it..these are things people want to know.
Thanks for a great one day read!

As a fan of Deadliest Catch, I enjoyed this book thoroughly! It's basically a collection of interviews of the captains and some crew members. Reading some of the recollections and histories of the men involved gives you a deeper understanding of what kind of person it takes to be a successful Bering sea fisherman. I have even more respect for their work and for the men personally after reading this. It's a quick, compelling read. What characters!! If anything I wish the book were longer--these sea stories are fascinating--and the TV show really brings home just how dangerous their jobs really are. I enjoyed Captain Sig Hansen's book also, and recommend that highly. It's well-written and Sig's respect for the ones who came before him, as well as his family's contributions to Alaskan commercial fishing, is evident throughout.
