4.0 out of 5 stars Fun game - buy at low price January 7, 2013

As an arcade release, I was never interested in this game. Fighting games are not my forte. Once I saw that it was a full disc release, the collector in me wanted to add this to my wall. I am not a fan of fighting games because I suck at memorizing fight patterns, move lists, and combos. That said, this game is a fun addition to my collection. The graphics and physics are solid. This is a fun game to bust out with a few people over as you can turn in games quickly and it's different. Given the fact that it's cheap, it's even better. Definately worth the <$10 price I paid.

2.0 out of 5 stars Fans of Bushido Blade May Have Some Fun December 1, 2012

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
The Deadliest Warrior games are a perfect example of what to expect from a company that started out as an independent studio. They have made a small list of games since 2000 but most of them have been properties belonging to other companies. The first Deadliest Warrior game, based on the Spike TV show that was cancelled after three seasons on January 2012, was probably made on a modest budget. The sequal had more environments, features, and modes, though it largly plays the same. Sure, the combat isn't the most balanced, the visuals are very basic for what to expect on Xbox Live Arcade, and the audio is often absent or sounds like a bunch of stock sound effects -- but you can still have some fun when playing with friends.

You should know that despite having a different title, "Deadliest Warrior: Anceint Combat" is actually just a collection of the first two seperate games, "Deadliest Warrior: The Game" and "Deadliest Warrior: Legends." This is what happens when you have a independent developer that deosn't seem to understand how to lable arcade collections. Many thought with the different name it would actually incorperate all the fighters into one game, but thats not the case. This disc version does have a few extras, like 6 full episodes of the Spike TV show (1 from season one, 3 from season two, and 2 from season three) on a seperate DVD. You also get two new items for the sequal, 30 additional weapons for the warriors (two for each class), and the new Graveyard stage. If you buy the game used, you may not get the 6 episodes, so be aware.

PROBLEM LOADING GAME:
First is the way this game plays off the disc, which I've noticed some people having problems. If you try to play the disc it simply says, "No Game on Disc," and then tells you to go to the Store.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfectly captures the spirit of the show. December 10, 2012

As a real fighting game experience, Deadliest Warrior is a mess. It's shallow, favoring spectacle over substance, and the spectacle isn't even that great. Battles are won and lost seemingly at random. If someone you respect happens to walk into the room while you're playing Deadliest Warrior, you will experience a deep and lasting shame. However -- and I cannot overstate this point -- this is a game in which William Wallace can knock Genghis Khan into the "this is Sparta" pit with a flying dropkick. The game is stupid, but it's stupid fun.

The only problem it's difficult to overlook is the loading times, which are inexcusably long for a game whose matches are over this quickly. There's even a loading screen before the credits scroll.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun game, for the price June 18, 2013

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Deadliest Warrior isn't a Tekken, Mortal Kombat or any other fighting franchise you've played, and that's okay. It's a cheap game, you're not or shouldn't be expecting something groundbreaking. I added it as a filler for an order for free shipping because it was only $9, and I've not been disappointed. It's a generic fighter that comes with 6 episodes of the TV Show, It's campy, the loading times are a bit above average, and you can one hit kill your opponent at times.

It's a fun title that's worth a low entry fee by offering a bit of laughs and provides some low budget mindless fun.

Buy it with that in mind, and you'll be pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars My brother loves this game. May 16, 2013

It was getting close to my brothers birthday and time was running out. He lives 400 miles away and no time to send a gift by UPS. When Bobby was little he would talk me into playing with the little plastic Army soldiers (before GI Joe!). He took such great pleasure in wiping out my soldiers, I didn't really care if he used a Tonka truck to knock them down!

But the game itself is based on a tv show with the same name and it has a following because of Spike TV. There is more to it than that! You can gut a Pirate, chop off his leg, shoot a cross bow at a Viking or behead an Apache. And that, my dear friend, is why people love this game. This game gives the player eight choices for a warrior to play in combat. As I said above, a Pirate, Viking, Apache and Ninja, Centurion, Spartan, Samurai, and a Knight. All with their own special weapons and skills!

I am not much of a warrior but the excitement of this game draws me into watch and lose myself in the sheer roar of battle!

4.0 out of 5 stars Before You Buy! May 24, 2012
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Take into consideration that this is actually 2 Different games on one disk! Deadliest Warrior: The Game, and DW: Ancient Legends. If you already have the XBLA versions you may want to skip over this. I originally believed it to be a crossover between both games, allowing for more character matchups (much like Naruto Storm Generations). THIS IS NOT THE CASE! I would say, only by this if you DON'T already own the XBLA versions, as it is essentially both games in their entirety and nearly nothing more. The only real difference is the 30 New weapons for DW: Ancient Legends, and a few free Deadliest Warrior episodes.

1. Do you like Deadliest Warrior? (Yes? Answer 2.)
2. Do you like fighting games with a chance of a One Hit Kill? (Yes? Answer 3.)
3. Do you own both DW: The Game, and DW: Ancient Legends? (No? Answer 4.)

4. Did you answer 1.Yes 2.Yes and 3.No? If so just buy it, you'll love it!
