When you take a fiesty cop and an ex-cop both reaching for their own goals you get a really banging book! I have been anticipating this book ever since I finished the last page of the first book "Deadly Obsession". If I could give this book a rating higher than 5 I definitely would. Kristine has once again captured me with not only an action packed mystery, but also a touching romance full of heat.
Remi's character was my favorite, I love how caring he is and how he is always looking out for everyone. Despite the hardships he went through when he was a little boy, he doesn't act like a victim. I like that Remi is a fighter, and he fights for what he wants including Alyssa who is an SQ COP, not only that but she is WHITE... which is a big problem/ NO NO on the reserve. When you read Deadly Addiction you will find out why, so I won't ruin it for you. I DID NOT like Chaz... he made me so angry that I wanted to take him out myself. I'll say he is a phenomenal villan. This story was so complex, with different points of views told which I really enjoyed. I like that I always knew what was going on in everyone's heads, and I love the depth of Kristine's books and the world she created. Alyssa also has a past with the Vipers (a gang) because they killed her brother and she wanted revenge. Alyssa went through a lot gaining their trust and busting them which makes it really hard to uncover the mystery of drugs on the reserve. While uncovering this mystery with Remi they are both faced with each other's pasts... The ending left me like WHAT? Really? I want to know more!! It was so fun reading this book, I stayed up late late reading it because I couldn't put it down, I just had to know what was going to happen next.

Deadly Addiction, written by Kristine Cayne, is an outstanding novel earning a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Before reading Cayne's Deadly Vices series, I had never read an actual romantic thriller/mystery. I had read plenty of romances with a slight plot twist to keep things interesting and keep the novel from revolving around love, sex, and "soul mates". Never have I read romance novels written with the talent and skill that Cayne possesses.

First off, I need to say that the characters are brilliant. Cayne gives the opportunity to get to know the characters through many different sets of eyes, as the story is told through many different viewpoints. Typically, this isn't something I am a fan of; however, she pulls it off without creating confusion.

Each character is unique and has many different layers, creating believable individuals who stir the most basic of human emotions. Rémi Whitedeer and Alyssa Morgan were by far my favorite characters. I loved them individually - their struggles and inner-demons, as well as their triumphs and compassion. I also love the way the two played off each other.

The way that Cayne told each character's back-story a little bit at a time, rather than all at once in the beginning of the novel or upon introduction was a refreshing change. It left a slight air of mystery about the characters and helped them to feel more life-like.

The final aspect of Deadly Addiction that I want to mention is, honestly, just how addicting this novel is! Much like it's predecessor (which I was thrilled to find Addiction wasn't a literal sequel to Obsession), Addiction is a fast paced, romance and action packed novel; however, not to the point of being over-whelming.

Just when you think it couldn't get any better...Kristine Cayne raised the bar in her second book of the Deadly Vices Series with Deadly Addiction. Gripping, intriguing, and wiggle-in-your-seat lustful, this novel has it ALL. Each page draws you deeper and deeper into Remi and Alyssa's world until you can't put it down!! An absolute MUST READ from a master story teller!!!

Roller Coaster, Back-and-Forth, Complete Amazing-ness.

There's so much to say about this book. Most apparent is the reverse discrimination against Alyssa Morgan because she was white in an Indian (red) reservation. First of all, who knew that there was a red race? I'm obviously the ignorant that didn't know. Anyway, Remi Whitedeer was a red and as romance protocol, he fell in love with Alyssa.

Alyssa - she was a white cop in an Indian reservation. From the beginning, she was made aware that she was not wanted. She was a strong and determined woman who joined the force to avenge her brother. As we all know, people might get their revenge, but it won't bring back what used to be. Well, at least she found love in Remi despite all the threats made and attempted against her life.

Remi - he was such a righteous, by-the-book kind of guy. He was raised by a heroin-addicted mother who died of an overdose. He became a counselor to help children stay away from drugs and alcohol. He fell in lust with Alyssa the first time he saw her. Even though he knew it wasn't right, he couldn't help himself. What was there to do but surrender? He was very protective and passionate.

Chaz - he was one sick jerk. Every time he encountered Alyssa, he just spat venom. It was a wonder he was a Guardian instead of a Viper. He did have the nickname "The Jackal." Anyway, he had a twisted dream for his people in the reserve. He wanted to "free" them and raise his kids free from white people. And he resorted to achieving that dream by growing illegal crops and dealing with the Vipers, the same white people that he hated so much. All for the sake of his clan.

Nitro - he was the lead assassin for the Vipers.
