A first rate thriller!,

This review is from: A Deadly Class Reunion (Paperback)
Bill Flynn's thriller "A Deadly Class Reunion" grabbed me from the start and held on to the nail-biting end. Ronan Ryan and his former classmates return to Eastboro, Massachusetts for their twentieth anniversary. What should be a happy occasion is turned into a tragedy, as one of the classmates begins murdering his fellow alumni to get even for the slights he suffered under them. After brooding about it for twenty years, Lyle Emory has decided to get even with his classmates, using both high explosives and bullets to settle old scores.Ronan, his former girlfriend Jennifer Parker, and their classmate, Corky Newcome, now the Eastboro police chief, unite to try to identify the killer and to bring him to justice. With the help of a teenage hacker, they eventually home in on Lyle Emory, but not before he has killed several classmates. In the story's thrilling climax, the villain Lyle Emory kidnaps Jennifer. To say anything more would be a spoiler, but I'll just say that the author knows how to ratchet up the tension with the best of them. Don't make the mistake of relaxing when it appears the danger is over - not with the resourceful Lyle Emory. "A Deadly Class Reunion" was the second book I've read by Bill Flynn. The first was "The Feathery," a murder mystery that takes place against the backdrop of the professional golf tour. Both were first rate thrillers, although "The Feathery," which was written several years later than "A Deadly Class Reunion" was slightly more polished. Both books, however, were first rate thrillers that gave me hours of exciting reading. The bottom line: two thumbs up and highly recommended.

Entertaining Thriller On An Important Topic,

Divorcé and former FBI agent, Ronan Ryan, has returned to Eastboro, Massachusetts for his twentieth high school reunion. Ronan is hoping to see his old flame Jennifer Allen, but when Jennifer and other high school friends are targeted by someone known as the Reunion Bomber, Ronan must concentrate on saving lives rather than rekindling a romance.A Deadly Class Reunion is an entertaining thriller about schoolyard bullying. Author Bill Flynn takes the theme a step further by exploring the feelings and consequences of bullies and victims years later. Flynn has created a straightforward, compelling story that made me think back to my own high school days, as I'm sure it will for many readers. One quick note: it was a bit distracting to see several typos and the occasional word missing from sentences, but since it's happened in most novels I've read this year, regardless of publisher, don't let this deter you from reading this book. But maybe you should read it after your own reunion. Enjoy!

We've all been there, a walk down memory lane to those happiest and most trying times in our lives. Attending the Twentieth Class Reunion of your High School. To see the changes, both physically and economically in your friends. Ronan Ryann, the High School Senior Prom King, an Ex-Marine whose career as an Special Agent with the FBI was cut short by a bullett to his knee, formed a Computer Security company in Los Angeles and had built it up to a multi-million dollars company. His success had a price, a nasty divorce from his wife Sue, and her gaining parental custody of his young son and daughter. He flies in from Los Angeles. Jennifer Parker, his "first Love", and Senior Prom Queen has thrived as a Fashion Editor for The New York Times, based in Paris, France. She was widowed by the bombing of the Pan Am flight over Lockerbie, Scotland. Childless, she has spent her live concentrating on her work. Corneilius (Corky) Newcombe has remained in Eastboro and risen to become Police Chief of his home town's 18 man department. Then there are those in the class who weren't in the "jocks" or "social" cliques. There is also one who carried a grudge from the 7th. grade and did not graduate with the Class of 1980.His mission is to exact revenge on those he blames for making his life miserable and a wreck. He served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and learned a valuable trade - demolition. He is apprehended selling Army explosives and spend two years in Fort Levenworth Federal Prison for two years. He walsk out of prison with a Dishonorable Discharge and makes his move back to Eastboro to exact his Revenge. "A DEADLY CLASS REUNION" kept my eyes glued to my Kindle for a couple of hours of reading a very good novel. I will now purchase the Paperback to add to my bookshelves. I have the Paperback of "A DRUMBEAT TOO NEAR" also by Author BILL FLYNN. I am anxious to read it since it is a historical novel based on the German U-Boats that came too close the the East Coast during World War II, and a group of kids who kept watch to save our country. "A DEADLY CLASS REUNION" is a fast and entertaining read that will keep you in suspense from page one to the last line. The ending was a big surprise for me. This book deserves FIVE STARS in my book. I read this compelling thriller in two days on my Kindle. It was hard to put down.Bill Flynn's highly entertaining thriller deals with the important subject of schoolyard bullying and the devastating and sometimes fatal effects it can have. Think Columbine and you have some idea of the scope and effectiveness of this novel. Lyle Emory decides to get even with his classmates and wreak revenge at a high school reunion. This thriller is not a Whodunnit, it is more a Whyhedunnit as it explores the motivations behind this serial killer. A Deadly Class Reunion is an exciting read with a thrilling and explosive climax. Flynn is a polished writer who knows how to keep the reader's attention and interest. His short chapters are real page turners - shades of James Patterson or Nelson DeMille. Just when you think it is all over, there is an extra twist at the end. This one would make a good movie -- Hollywood take note. If you are looking for a quick and exciting read, I highly recommend this book. Fully deserves 5 stars! James A. Anderson, Author DEADLINE |
