Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

As the subtitle suggests, "the deadly connection" is the relationship be tween U.S. nuclear policy and U.S. for eign intervention. This study specifical ly links the two themes by citing numerous historical examples of U.S. nuclear blackmail of foreign countries. The case is made that such a strategy will become increasingly dangerous with President Reagan's interventionist policies in the Third World and with the disappearance of the "firebreak" be tween conventional and nuclear arms. Gerson calls on the U.S. peace move ment not to fragment itself but to coop erate in opposing both nuclear arms and foreign military intervention. The book is composed of articles and speeches by some 23 authors, some written as early as 1981, which results in a dated con tent and an uneven style. D. Felbel, Univ. of Manitoba Libs., Winnipeg
