5.0 out of 5 stars HANDS DOWN THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!
I am a male reader who decided to give Jackie Collins a try. And boy she didn't disappoint! This book had everything I was looking for in a good read and more. It was so good that I had cut back on most of my activites just to finish it. Once you began reading you WILL NOT be able to put it down. It's fast-paced, exciting, and unpredictable. 3.0 out of 5 stars you'll HATE it badly if you've read lethan seduction
I read lethal seduction which I read and fell madly in love with, then i decided to read this considering its the prequel. 2 words, pure crap/ trash (u're pick). It was highly disappointing. It seemed as if she were rushing to meet a deadline, and just didn't pay as much attention.

Michael Castelli/Castellino is the best character ever written. He's everything I wish I could be and more! I hope Collins writes more about him in the future. I am now buying all of Jackie Collins books, cause she has just recieved herself a new loyal fan in me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deadly Embrace, August 4, 2002
By
This review is from: Deadly Embrace (Hardcover)
This is another hit for Ms. Collins. Madison Castelli is the heroine in this story as she is involved in a hostage situation. Being a reporter, she is able to help the others and herself in this situation. As the gunman told her, "You have balls". Being the daughter of Michael Castelli, of course she does! Her handsome father, is accused of two killings, Madison's mother, Beth, and Stella, the woman who left him for a younger man. Michael has also gotten involved with people you don't say no to, the mob. His former boss, Vito Giovanni assisted him as he was acquitted of Beth's murder. As he made various trips to Las Vegas, he met a chorus gal, Dani, and they have had a distant relationship. Dani also has a son, Vincent, who is also Michael's son, but he doesn't find out until seventeen years later. As Jackie Collins has done so well in the past, she goes back and forth in time with the various chapters as we, the reader, put it all together. There are also at least five plots going on in the book, and somehow, everything fits together. There is enough of each story to keep you reading, and in Jackie's style, lots of sex and drugs. As usual, I could not put this, yet another great Jackie Collins' book down. This was 517 pages of great reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars exciting suspense thriller, June 14, 2002
This review is from: Deadly Embrace (Hardcover)
Reporter Madison Castelli is stunned to learn that her father Michael has hid much of his life especially his mob connections from her. Feeling distraught because he is her only blood family, Madison flees across the country to gather her thoughts and control her feelings until she can logically confront her father. However, Los Angeles contains its violence and soon Madison is trapped with her host in a hostage situation connected to her father.

Though framed, Michael spent five years behind bars. During his incarceration, he vowed to go straight, but find out who murdered his mother and his first wife and why. However, he also has trouble in the present being framed again but this time for murder. He flees to Vegas to regroup with his second spouse, the mother of his two other children. As the past and present converge in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, the Castellis do more than just try to survive as Michael goes after those who want him silenced.

Though sexual fluff abounds in DEADLY EMBRACE (duh - Jackie Collins), the story line is actually more of an exciting suspense thriller that ties up loose ends from previous Castelli novels (see LETHAL SEDUCTION and L.A. CONNECTIONS). The plot is exciting never slowing down even with the numerous flashbacks that provide insight into Michael's past. Madison remains a strong character and the support cast serves more than just as ornaments, but this entry focuses more on Michael. This tale is a winner for fans of Ms. Collin, which proudly this reviewer is one of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Good Summer Read, June 18, 2002

It wouldn't be summer, without a Jackie Collins' book to read. Although I'm still hoping she will write another book about the Santangelos, Deadly Embrace did not disappoint me. Once again, her colorful characters come to life in this fast paced story. I enjoyed it very much. If you are a fan of Jackie Collins, you will not be disappointed......

She focused purely on michael and some drama, she repeated most of the stuff you will know in lethal seduction, it was very annoying, and both I and my aunt hated it, and were pissed of.

BUT if you haven't read Lethal Seduction yet, go on and have a blast you'll love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classic Collins!, August 30, 2006
This book reminded me of some of Jackie Collins earlier works....and because I had not read one of her novels in a long time, I was pleased to see that she has a lot of talent and weaves a good tale.

In Deadly Embraces, Collins tells the love story of Michael Castelli (a part time mobster, turned multi-billionare playboy) and Dani Castle (ex-Vegas Showgirl). Their romance, which spanned over 30 years is reviewed and we see their heartaches, relationships with other people, marriages to other people, birth of their children and various other life experiences.

The novel begins with Michael's beloved daughter, Madison taken hostage at a restaurant, while Michael's past comes to haunt him. Everything is not what it seems and we soon learn that revenge or retribution is a dish best served cold.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best so far, July 24, 2006
So far I have completed about 7 of Jackie Collin's novels and this one was by far the most entertaining. I love how she mingles, sex, hate, murder, etc. It is captivating -- I did not want to put this book down and the end did not disappoint. A must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Page Turner!, July 10, 2004
By
TJ's Mommy (El Dorado Hills, CA United States) - See all my reviews
Jackie Collins is the master at writing novels full of sex, mystery, and intrigue. This book will definitely not disappoint! In a previous novel, Lethal Seduction, we are introduced to the Castelli family...Madison, her father Michael, his son Vincent, and daughter Sofia. This story takes place in the present and also alternates with chapters of the past. It is riveting!

The story takes place (...)...Madison is caught in a robbery/hostage situation at an LA restaurant. At the same time, her father Michael is on the run avoiding a warrant for his arrest. The story takes us back in time to "explain" the history of Michael and his family, how he ends up where he is now, and how everything ties together. It's a wonderful way to tell this story and keeps the readers on their toes. I don't want to tell too much of the plot because it's far too good and must be read!
