I just got done reading A Deadly Encounter and I thought it was a very well written novel and had some interesting twists. This is a story of worlds colliding spiced with sensual scenes, explosive conflicts, and a captivating writing style to engage you with the characters. I rarely read, yet I finished this book in just a few short days. I liked the book's capacity to...

BFF Kayla DeWitt and Taea Everett are a couple of hot chicks loving their lives and their liberties. They have a beautiful home that they share by choice, luxurious rides and their own money. The only thing missing is a decent man in Kayla's life, although Taea revels in the single life. While dining at their favorite restaurant, they're introduced and warned about two...

A Kid's Review
I just got done reading A Deadly Encounter and I thought it was a very well written novel and had some interesting twists. This is a story of worlds colliding spiced with sensual scenes, explosive conflicts, and a captivating writing style to engage you with the characters. I rarely read, yet I finished this book in just a few short days. I liked the book's capacity to keep me interested in the lives of the characters; they seemed to be racing against a ticking clock. This book should definitely hit some nerves and introduce you to individuals that you can relate to and some that you don't want to meet!

4.0 out of 5 stars The beginning was a great start to a banging trilogy, October 3, 2011

I read Sins of the father and then Smoke & Mirrors before I read this book. Dezi was some kind of man. Oh how my heart just broke when Dirty killed Taea then himself. Taea was the epitomy of a real homegirl even though she did some shady stuff too. All three books were really good but I would have to say Smoke & Mirrors was my favorite. I didn't know or realize that Chris was such a jerk and was happy about his downfall in the last book of this stellar trilogy. KR is a beast and I enjoy her writing style and books to the fullest.

I don't usually buy these types of books. I'm usually a self help or biz book person. I picked up the book on the suggestion of a friend, and I will say I became enthralled with the story and characters and enjoyed it despite myself. If your in need of a guilty pleasure then this is the book for you. The author is thoughtful, provocative, and full of surprises. Give this book a chance and you won't regret it.

This was a great book. I have to agree with the previous reviewer I wanted Dezi to come out on top as well. I didn't care for Black either, I know he was the better man for Kayla but I wanted to see Kayla and Dezi together, Dezi just had that swagger. Get this book you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars RIM Review of A Deadly Encounter, December 31, 2009
This review is from: A Deadly Encounter (Paperback)
Dezi Gianni is very woman's dream and every man's nightmare. Gianni nickname is Devastator and the name is very fitting. A ruthless crime lord, Gianni runs his empire with an iron fist, but like they say every thug needs a lady. Kayla DeWitt is sexy and sophisticated and able to do what every woman wants to, capture Gianni's heart. The two begin a whirlwind love affair but happily ever after doesn't seem like the end result for the couple. The FBI wants Gianni and they want him bad and someone else has their eyes set on Kayla. Please keep all hands and feet in the car as you go partake on this rollercoaster called A Deadly Encounter.

Bankston does an outstanding job with her debut novel. Her characters are believable, humanistic, and unforgettable. Just when you think you know the outcome Bankston throws another curve that will have you dumbfounded and anxious. A Deadly Encounter is a great book that will have craving the sequel Sins of Our Father.

Final Rating: 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Deadly Attraction, January 15, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
In two words Deadly Attraction! Dezi is the man you dream of and wish was your man but without the murder and mayhem. Dezi is truly a man's man and believes that the world is his. The Clique and Dezi were unmatched. Deadly Encounter was a must read and Dezi, the main character, kept me enthralled throughout the whole book. The characters were jumping off the pages and I could visualize the death scenes with precision.

5.0 out of 5 stars ;0), January 10, 2012

BRIEF SUMMARY
Kayla was having lunch, when she caught the eye of Dezi Gianni. Dezi and his organization are dangerous unbeknownst to Kayla. The more Dezi gets involve with her is the more he becomes possessive. Nevertheless, Dezi tries to separate crime life from Kayla in order to keep the woman he loves by his side. This maybe hard to do with the FBI snooping around.

THOUGHTS

Epic, that's all I can say. It was grimy, violent, sexy, good, and sad at times. What the author did with all the characters was amazing; the first half of the book was exciting as you're getting to know each character. The second half of the book blew me away with all that occurred that it made me so upset; I was that engrossed in the book. The second half gave us new characters and even bigger problems.

Dezi and Kayla's relationship was sexy, new and hot. However, the day Kayla met Dezi, was the beginning of the end. I couldn't believe the things Dezi did; he was deadly but really loved Kayla. Kayla was innocent and just wanted to find love after a bad breakup with her ex. All I can say is, you won't believe what went down with the ex *shaking my head*

I loved Kayla's best friend and Dezi's right hand man's storyline up to a certain point, it's unbelievable how things went down for them. Speaking of another particular character will probably give away certain things, but all I will say is that I love Agent Black. Although some scenes were sad, treacherous, and exciting, I wouldn't change a thing. I am glad the story started, continued and ended the way it did. Well done to the author, you just got a brand new fan.

Storyline: GOOD
Intimacy: GOOD
Enjoyment: GOOD

4.0 out of 5 stars A New Look at Fatal Attraction, December 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I enjoyed this book, it gave fatal attraction a whole new meaning. I think this book would make an awesome movie..it was packed with suspense & I enjoyed the many twists and turns the book had to offer. It was well written with an awesome storyline and not too many errors. At first it felt like there was too much going on, but it came together & it all made sense. Definitely a good read & would recommend for anyone looking for a suspense novel. This is NOT an urban genre book by any means!
