DEADLY IS RIGHT ON!!!!!!,
By Mac Blair "Mac Blair" (Huntingdon, TN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Deadly Justice (Mass Market Paperback)
This it the third book in this series. I think it may be the best one yet, even though I enjoyed the first two. The back cover is very misleading. Ben finds a dead body, or was it, before his first case is decided and he is never charged with murder. Ben has joined at big law firm and left his private practice. Ben was in a big firm before and left it in one of the other books. He joins this one for the money. The firm is true of many today with the suck ups and people brown noseing all the time. A fellow Attorney does turn up dead, also "ladies of the evening" are being found dead. Could the two be connected??? Ben works with his friend and ex-brother in law, Mike Morelli to find the killer. He uses all his people from his private practice to help him, Christina McCall, Jones and Loving. Will he stay at the new firm or go back to private practice? Will they find the killer before he strikes again? A good read. I found myself just scanning pages at the end so I could find out how it ended. A surprise or two at the end. Hard to put the book down. Am looking forward to the next one.

Bernhardt is one of my favorite writers....his knowledge of the Washington "ins and outs" is very believable...I read the book to the end in one day...an easy read..

This kept me in suspense. Another wonderful book by William Bernhardt. I am from around the area and I am proud that he is from our area. Does a wonderful job of weaving a mystery. Recommend it to everyone for relaxing reading.

I had never read one of Mr. Bernhardt's books before, but was pleasantly surprised. The characters and plot were engaging. Since I live in Tulsa, I enjoyed reading a book written in a setting I am very familiar with. This book is just as good as many of the police/detective shows I find on PBS. I plan to read more of Mr. Bernhardt's novels. I especially like the main character, Ben Kincaid. I found him to be a most sympathetic character with emotions I could relate to. He wasn't your typical "macho" type, and rather had some weaknesses/flaws that I found very relatable as well as endearing, such as a fear of heights, and not necessarily being athletic. At times I actually couldn't put the book down.

Give me a break,

This is the second William Bernhardt novel I read; MURDER ONE was my first. I applaud Mr. Bernhardt for all the charity work he has done in the last few years by editing projects like LEGAL BRIEFS and NATURAL SUSPECT whose proceeds go to charity. I am sorry that this novel in his JUSTICE series does not have my praise.Ben Kincaid is lured from his private practice to work for the Apollo Consortium. He is supposed to be very smart but no matter how smart he cannot see that he is being set up to take a fall. Second, he finds a 'dead' body in his office, leaves for five minutes and then the body disappears. I will not spoil it for those who have not read this book but farfetched does not even cover it. The dead body was a member of something called 'The Kindergarten Club' which is related to a rash of murders ocuring in Kincaid's town of Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the end of the novel, just like Jessica Fletcher, he solves every piece of the puzzle and yet he took his time in finding out that he was being treated like a fool at his new firm. Thank goodness this was not a permanent predicament. I hope that there are better JUSTICE novels in his series.

Great light reading,

First of all let me warn you, the reading in the books in this series is similar to the one in Perry Mason. So don't expect any masterfully created plots or intricate characters. On the other side, Bernhardt is very good at to what I think he tries to achieve with his books. You can read this book quickly and have a very enjoyable time. Also, the characters are likable and you will probably find yourself reading all the book in the series. The big plus I find compared to Perry Mason is the great humor moments in some of the books (this one included). Finally, if you are going to give it a try I recommend you start with the first book in the series (Blind Justice) since they have certain continuity going.
