About the Author
Ruthe Furie was reared in Brooklyn and did her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Buffalo, NY. Her mystery series features Fran Kirk, a battered woman who lives in the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga, New York. Of the three books in the series, If Looks Could Kill and A Natural Death were nominated for Shamus Awards.
Ruthe cowrote an earlier mystery, Hell Gate. Her short stories have been published in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, The Quarterly, the Buffalo Sabres magazine, the anthologies Lethal Ladies II and Fedora, Private Eyes, Tough Guys.
A German version of If Looks Could Kill was published in March 1999.
An award winning journalist, she worked at The New York Times, New York Daily News, The Buffalo News, and The Record (Hackensack, NJ).
She lives in the hills south of Buffalo, NY, (the city with no illusions) with three Airedale terriers (the most creative of canines). She has four children and a horde of grandchildren.
