My idea of a good beach read: The good guys win, although it is touch and go at some point along the way. There has to be a good dose of troubled romance, and a sprinkling of humor throughout. A plot that keeps you guessing, and characters that come to life are needed as well. The one ingredient that must be there, regardless of genre is good editing.
Deadly Reunion has all of the above and the wonderful central character, Taci Andrews, is impetuous, funny, and totally likeable. I hope to read more about this intrepid journalist.

"Deadly Reunion" is a sassy, quick-paced mystery that had me laughing out loud from page one. Amy Manemann masterfully blends action, humor and smoldering romance throughout the entire book. The main character, investigative reporter Taci Andrews, is amazingly witty with just the right blend of snark and sarcasm to draw you back to the pages continuously to "hang out" with her. Her moody and ultra hot romantic interest, Tony the Firefighter, brings the sizzle to the story. Their cat and mouse flirtation is youthful enough for contemporary readers, yet strongly sensual enough so that readers will never mistake these two for anything but hot-blooded adults.

In the midst of the romantic heat, Taci finds herself in serious danger during her latest investigation into the disappearance of the daughter of former high school classmates. Of course, things are not what they seem at first glance, keeping this story true to it's mystery roots, and the twists, action, and triple surprise ending do not disappoint. At the end of the book, there is a teaser for the next installment of this series and, based on the excerpt, it promises to deliver a great read just as this first one did. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

A little mystery and a little romance made for a perfect combination to read during a winter weekend. As a reader, it is key to get connected with the main character and from page one, I wanted to get to know Taci and find out what led her to be thrown from a fiery building. As an invitation to her upcoming high school reunion arrives, she ends up reconnecting to those who stayed in her home town through the mystery of a high school rival's missing child.

With a former high school fling back in town working in the fire department, the romance was a good distraction to the mystery that she is trying to research for her job as a news reporter. I think their "relationship" was a nice addition to the story and didn't take away from the main story of the book.

With some definite twists and turns, this book when in a direction that I wasn't expecting but still loved. One may think that the missing child is the only mystery and you turn a corner and there is more to it - of course, I can't share because you must go get this one and see what all is going on behind the scenes in this small town in Iowa.

"Deadly Reunion" is one of the best books I have read in a very long time. It was a quick read, with an awesome storyline, and even better character's. I honestly LOVED reading this book. I got so "involved" in the story. It's a MUST READ for anyone who likes suspense and action. Being from a small midwestern town myself, I can relate. Amy Manemann is a superb artist of the written word. I could picture the scene's in my mind. I am looking forward to reading her next book in the series, "Deadly Science!"
Check it out, you won't regret it!

I honestly can't express how much I truly enjoyed reading "Deadly Reunion."
The characters come alive, so that the reader feels both their pain and their joy and comes to care about what happens to them. They are characters that you think about after you finish reading the book, think about and wonder about and care about. It's a great book!

Deadly Reunion (The Taci Andrews Deadly Series book 1) by Amy Manemann is funny. Incredibly funny. Laugh-out-loud funny. A very intelligent and smart-as-a-whip first story of the series...a series I will definitely be reading in its entirety. Sharp and witty dialogue and characters, interesting plot...what else could you want in a mystery thriller? Romance? Check. Hunky fireman? Check. Bright and independent female main character? Check. Well developed scenes? Check. Did I mention funny? Check.

As a reader I am always looking for intelligent stories. Plots that make sense, creative scenes that don't make you roll your eyes, witty dialogue, realistic characters (ok, except when reading a fantasy/paranormal book), non-obvious story lines. Deadly Reunion has all that in spades. Go ahead. Read it. You will be hooked and pining for the second (in the works) book. I promise you.

As an "old" newspaper reporter, it was enjoyable to read the exploits of Taci Andrews an investigative reporters in Riverdale, Iowa (although I am not sure a paper in a town that size would have an investigative reporter). Taci is a strong woman, who loves her job, her friends, her brother, and maybe even Tony, the fireman who has annoyed her since the 3rd grade. As Taci tries to piece together the biggest story of her career, she also has to deal with Tony and his "possible" romantic interest, help her friend Annie through a messy divorce, her "down-on-his-luck" brother, and her upcoming high school reunion. Despite the challenges she faces, Taci manages to stay true to herself, follow her gut, and get the story. Taci's biting wit is what makes her stand out as a character.

Overall, I enjoyed Deadly Reunion. Amy Manemann writes in a quick, easy style that was enjoyable to read and I look forward to the rest of the Taci Andrews Series.
