5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised! November 20, 2011

I have to admit that I'm not always 100 % sold on every book that I've downloaded for "free" on my kindle, but I seriously could hardly put this one down. The characters were really interesting and the suspense kept increasing as I progressed into the book. I noticed some reviewers stopped after few chapters and then rated it poorly. I can guarantee that if you continue on, you will not only finish the book, but maybe even have to stay up late one night to do so! I am looking forward to more books by this author...well done!

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining but not great.
I finished it, but it wasn't a page turner for me. The plot seemed a bit thin and implausible and I just couldn't get into the characters.

More About the Author

Roger Stelljes is an award winning author and a lifelong Minnesotan.
*** New release - ELECTING TO MURDER - Now on sale for .99 ***

Ruthless killers...grizzly deaths...escalating stakes... A clandestine late night meeting in Kentucky, a murder in a seedy St. Paul motel, a mysterious investigator operating in the shadows and dueling political masterminds all collide to provide Mac McRyan with the ultimate test in ELECTING TO MURDER.

My author picture is in front of the historic Stillwater, MN lift bridge. This is also one of the locations in the book DEADLY STILLWATER (my gift as a free download). This bridge raises on a set schedule to allow larger boats to travel up and down the St. Croix River. Stillwater is considered the birthplace of Minnesota and it is also a frequent tourist destination with its river bluffs, amazing scenery, paddle wheel boats, and historic buildings. I think it was at least 90 degress the day of the photo shoot with hundreds of people milling around wondering why a guy would have a suit on in such hot weather -- shorts next time maybe...

OTHER BOOKS IN THE SERIES:
FIRST DEADLY CONSPIRACY - get the first 3 books in the series for $3.49

FIRST CASE - prequel to the McRyan Mystery Series - An emotionally charged investigation full of unexpected twists and turns, Mac McRyan will need to follow a convoluted trail of evidence, secrets, and hidden agendas to help solve a murder mystery that is his FIRST CASE.

THE ST. PAUL CONSPIRACY was named the MIPA (Midwest Independent Publishers) Merit Award Winner for Commercial Fiction and it was also a Minnesota Book Awards Nominee. Readers will enjoy the compelling, gritty, and action packed story that is set in and around historic St. Paul, Minnesota.

The second full-length novel in the McRyan Mystery Series, DEADLY STILLWATER, is a pulse pounding thriller that is set in the Twin Cities, Duluth, and Wisconsin. Mac McRyan and other characters return for this second novel in the series.

While a voracious reader of novels, Roger is also an avid sports fan, particularly of the Minnesota Golden Gopher hockey team as well as the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and the Wild. If you can't find him at a game, you might find him on one of Minnesota's lakes, golf courses, or local hockey rinks.

He became a fan of Michael Crichton, David Baldacci, Scott Turow, W.E.B. Griffin, Robert Ludlum, James Patterson, Michael Connelly, Tami Hoag and Vince Flynn. All of them in one way shape or form have influenced the author in his writing.
