More About the Author

I've published 45 books; all but two are for children. I wrote magazine articles, short stories, and plays for many years before I discovered that what I like best is to write books for kids.
When I was twelve, I was paralyzed with polio. I made almost a full recovery but I remember that time of my life so clearly that it's easy for me to write from the viewpoint of a twelve or thirteen-year-old.
I'm always thrilled when one of my books wins a state young reader award, because I know those awards are voted on by children.
I am a widow who was married for 48 years. I have two grown children and four grandchildren. I live on a small wildlife sanctuary near Mt. Rainier National Park and I often have deer and elk in my yard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best. Book. Ever., February 10, 2011
By
Nancy Schremmer (Ponca City, OK United States) - See all my reviews
This is still my favorite book today and I am age 20! The author is compelling with her writing and you never want to put this book down. Each chapter ends with a bang, but then Ms. Kehret teases you by flipping the storyline to the other main character. I read this book almost every summer because it never gets old and is always entertaining. You never know what is going to happen until the very end, so don't cheat by reading the last page! That spoils the fun! I would recommend this book to any boy, girl, adult, child, someone who loves to read or to someone who doesn't. If you are considering buying this book, I would say go for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still remember reading this book over 10 years later, October 26, 2006
This review is from: Deadly Stranger (Paperback)
I believe I was about 10 years old when I got this book from either a book fair or a relative. I am now 23 and still remember how much I enjoyed it. 'Deadly Strenger' actually got me pretty interested in psychology, and I am including a reference to it in my application to graduate school. I would definitely recommend it for many "young adult" readers. As silly as it sounds, there are even a few good study tips in this book, which includes a few ways to remember things easier.
