Product Description

Some bonds are love, and some bonds are deadly. . . .

Taylor Reese is done with men, except for her son, Ryan. Dr. Gavin Kinncaid realizes Ms. Reese is the only woman he's ever wanted to strangle, but fate and passion soon twist their feelings into something other than antagonism, first into passion and then into love. But someone plots to rip this new happy family apart, spilling pain and death in their wake.

"Four and 1/2 Stars! . . . Clarks showcases how close-knit and supportive this fantastic family is." --Susan Mobley, RT Bookclub Reviews

Jaycee Clark has always loved reading and writing. Even at an early age, she penned stories and poems. Now she taps on a keyboard whenever she gets the chance, creating villains with heroes and heroines to beat them. She traded her imaginary playmates for entire families that only exist within her mind until the keyboard brings them to life.

Jaycee has a degree in Elementary Education and lives in Texas with her family.

Dr. Gavin Kincaid is devastated. He's just lost a young pregnant woman and her unborn child during emergency surgery. The young woman obviously hasn't any family because there's only a young social worker who is pacing up and down the waiting room and hoping for good news. Taylor Reese seems somehow inadequate to Gavin Kinncaid. Shouldn't social workers be older and more mature? On the other hand Taylor isn't really impressed with Dr. Kinncaid who seems to be too self-confident and snobbish. A few days later and on his way to his parents' home Gavin is flagged down at the site of an accident only to find out that the person greeting him is Taylor and her adopted son Ryan. On second sight Gavin finds Taylor very attractive and tries to assist her, needless to say that Taylor is equally attracted to Gavin. However, Ryan who is Taylor's adopted son isn't so easily approachable. His biological mother, who is now in prison, has inflicted physical and psychological injuries on the young boy who tries with Taylor's help to overcome his problems. Taylor on the other hand still struggles with the aftermath of an unsuccessful marriage. Can the doctor help them both?

Taylor was a great heroine who tried very hard to overcome the aftermath of her failed marriage. Her ex-husband "accused" Ryan of being the major cause for their divorce, which didn't really help Taylor's psychology at all. However, I was very impressed with how much decency and strength she fought for her son. Gavin was adorable, exactly the right mixture between an alpha hero and a thinking and intelligent man. I absolutely loved the way he showed and expressed his love for Ryan and Taylor. I also enjoyed very much the reappearance of Aiden and Jesslyn and other subcharacters of the previous book.

The plot of the story was interesting and entertained me from the first until the last page. I liked the fact that it was clear from the beginning who the villain was which allowed me to "observe" how she intended to take her revenge. As in the previous book of the series there were some "paranormal" elements integrated in the plot, which again was masterly done and didn't bother me at all. (By the way: if you appreciate hot and steamy love scenes you won't be disappointed!) Generally, I very much liked this book!

As those before me have done, and those after will follow, I pledge my love to you, wife of mine. For on this day, you become my helpmeet, my other half. And to my son, a child of heart and love, he added to Ryan. You both become Kinncaids. And as tradition holds, I swear before all those here: This Ill defend. "e;
