I really ordered this on the spur of the moment when I needed an easy read on vacation. Was extremely surprised at the depth of the characters and how interesting the story was. I liked the interaction of the main characters and the plots were quite interesting. Look forward to the next installment of this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars I should have waited for the collection.. June 22, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I purchased each of these separately in the past and loved them all. I highly recommended them to friends. I'm an English mystery fan - these have good characters, almost believable plots, good dialogue and a little romance built in also. I liked that Hetheridge is older and yet intelligent and attractive. This is an easy read - not as heavy as some of the Inspector Lynley books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Proper English Mysteries - and more June 22, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I read all of these individually.
What a wonderful set of mysteries. A sympathetic hero - Anthony Hetherige is a perfect gentleman who finds himself out of his own depth when he meets his match in Kate. With each book, the characters deepen and the mysteries are deliciously complex and well thought-out. There is a perfect villain in Sir Duncan. I can't wait to see more of him.

The characters really drive these stories and make them so much more than "murder of the week" episodes. I can't wait for book 4!

4.0 out of 5 stars Deadly Trio June 29, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had already read the first book in this series and thoroughly enjoyed it. When I saw that there was a box set I just knew that I had to get it. I re-read the first book and became just as hooked into the story and the developing characters as I did the first time. These books are quintessentially British which is only a small part of their charm. They are easy to read but are not without depth, plot twists and red herrings.

If you like British stories, humour and police stories, then I can pretty much guarantee that you will love reading these. Looking forward to the fourth book in the series, Black and Blue, to be released at a later date.

5.0 out of 5 stars This series is fun, interesting and well-written. June 29, 2014

I read like a machine so I read a lot of free and discounted books and thus a lot of trash. This is so refreshingly well-written and just plain fun. Can't wait for the next one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Triple Hits October 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a excellent series. The murder plots of all three are good, with strong themes tying them together. Definitely get this triple anthology or read the three books in order. You will want to follow the developing relationship between the older Lord in charge and his scrappy working class female detective. A frowned upon situation in New Scotland Yard. There is also a very evil villain lurking throughout, Sir Duncan, who appears to be untouchable. Besides this the English/Indian Detective is a total riot with his banter and quirky sense of humor. I am looking forward to the 4th book soon to be released, Black and Blue.

As a former police officer in southern England I can relate to this trio and absolutely thoroughly enjoyed and savored this mix of police procedural and mystery however the best parts are those dealing with the personal lives and interactions of the aging aristocratic baron Chief and his blonde female smart as a whip and sassy lower class sergeant. The relationship is engaging and is like a chemical reaction between the two. Just really love - am slowly slowly enjoying and reading - this series.
