Comic relief,
By
This review is from: Deadpool: Mission Improbable (Paperback)
Thank God for Joe Kelly and his work on Deadpool goes to show that there are no bad characters, just bad writers. Just like what Warren Ellis did to Stormwatch and Alan Moore for Supreme, Kelly took on another one-note Rob Liefeld character ('Pool first appeared in the Liefeld drawn New Mutants #98) and turned it into one of the wackiest characters in comics. A 180 from his grim and gritty 90s-era origins, his one liners, the sight gags and quirky cast make Deadpool an endearing character. Ed McGuiness' cartoony art and clean lines suit the light tonality of this book. It's a fun ride with Marvel's Merc-With-A-Mouth.

Anti-heroism at it's best!!,

This book was well written in terms of hi-jinks and motor mouthing. Not many writers can catch the essence of a guy who's not a hero or a villain. Just someone who has a different perspective in life...or death. My kudos to the author. The artwork was great too.

Puts the "comic" in comic book,
By Mike (Lynchburg, VA) - See all my reviews

The artwork is perfectly suited to the subject matter: loud and cartoony. Joe Kelly is the best comic writer when it comes to humor. And to the genius criticizing the writing: it's spelled "shoddy"

this book is just fun. pure fun. its witty, its a little odd at times, its kinda violent, but all in all its meant to be fun. just sit back and try not to take it too seriously. And, as Deadpool would say, "guh."

Deadpool,

This review is from: Deadpool: Mission Improbable (Paperback)
The person below has obviously never read the Deadpool Mission Improbable story. Had he read any of the current Deadpool series he would realize that it is the story of a man who has been dealt much tradgedy in his life and, as in this first story, is in constant conflict to try NOT to resolve his problems through violence and is certainly not a hero. Joe Kelly consistently puts out the best read in comics today and I highly recommend this book to Deadpool fans who haven't been there from the start as it is the story where it all began and the rest of us were first hooked.

Unless you are a serious collector just wait for Deadpool Classic Vol 2, coming out April 2. It contains the first 8 issues of this series. Other than that, i love Deadpool!

I for one, as shown by my e-mail address, love a certain merc-with-a-mouth.Ed McGuiness (sp?) art is sooo suited for Deadpool. The only better is Mad.Not only that, but Joe Kelly will make you laugh out loud.Saddly, Ed left after issue nine, so by buying this book, you'll reciceve DP's golden age.

This is awful comic book work,
By A Customer
This review is from: Deadpool: Mission Improbable (Paperback)
The artwork looks like it was drawn from a "Learn how to Draw" skechbook for nine year olds and the writing is shotty at best. Deadpool is nothing more then a mutant version of the Punisher who has no guilt about killing. Just what we need, another so-called hero who resorts to using guns and violence to resolve things.
