5.0 out of 5 stars NUMAN? NU-METAL? NO - DEADSY!, November 24, 2000
This review is from: DEADSY (Audio CD)
Deadsy are a band shrouded in some mystery - what with 2 albums released (this one and Commencement which also share some of the same tracks) and then deleted by the record company. And after listening to this, the self titled debut, it appears to make little sense as to why, because the music is so good. The opener Lake Waramaug sets the tone nicely - Numan synths meets Korn style metal and Jon Davis even guests on the last track. One of the highlights has to be Future Years which recalls Joy Divisions 'Atmosphere' for the nu-metal generation. Although to say Deadsy are nu-metal would be unfair as they have a sound all their own unlike their counterparts. If and when you get a chance to own this CD do not hesitate as it is increasingly hard to find now. Best new(ish) band of the milleniumn so far? - definitely!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful CD, January 12, 2002

Deadsy is just great. Lyrics aren't godlike, but they are very good and Elijah's voice is great. The use of heavy synths sets the tone throughtout a great deal of the record, but by no means is it monotonous. I can't wait for them to release their new CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent. One of my favorites, March 13, 1999

Great musical method. Lead singer has a hauntingly resonant voice which contrasts beautifully with the climbing whine of the synthesizer.

Many of the same songs from Commencement, but there are a few others not heard anywhere else like a cover of Kommunity FK's "Anti-Pop" and This Goodnight. The artwork for this album is great too. This is a good collectable for any Deadsy fan. They only come as promo's because this album was never officially released. There are plenty of copies floating around though through the usual channels so pick one up. Deadsy is a great band. A New Wave/Rock band into the occult with metal overtones. Who would of thought they would be so good.

Phantasmagore is coming in 2006....Finally

I really enjoy this album. Deadsy has a very different sound! I always like to stay away from played out radio music and Deadsy helps add to my variety.
