5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you, Lubo!, January 21, 2000

I had come to the US for college and about a year after my arrival my brother, Lubo, sent me a few tapes of new music he had liked back in Bulgaria. One of these was Clawfinger's Deaf, Dumb, Blind. I was swamped with school work and for a while the tape was just lying hidden in some corner of my dorm room. When I finally got to it, I realized what treasure I had been neglecting. Due to the fact that CD's last much longer than tapes, a couple of years later I spent the money for the CD. Clawfinger are a wonderful band which was doing what is so hip today so many years ago and so much better! These Swedes are still undiscovered by American audiences. There is no better example of the rap-metal mix than this and any other Clawfinger album. "The Truth" was (justifiably) song/video of the year on MTV Europe the year the album was released there. "Catch Me" is my favourite on the album -- the lyrics are awesome. The only thing that is missing on this version is the anti-racism song which opens the original version of Deaf, Dumb, Blind. Maybe it is due to the title of the song (which I am not going to write down for fear that the review will not get posted, but it is the derogatory term for a black person), maybe there was a completely different reason... I have been wondering about it for years. Although the album is still one of the best of all time, I feel others are deprived of the strong message of the missing song. In any case: Don't miss this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Innovative, creative, socially concious heavy metal protest., September 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Deaf Dumb Blind (Audio CD)
The music from this Swedish band rocks the foundations of our ordered, conservative, myopic society. It is social protest in the form of heavy metal rap with great insight into the conditions which create injustice. Topics include war, racism, sexism, poverty, and corruption in the institutions of power. All are presented with genuine rage expressed by both the lyrics and music. The lyrics come across with tremendous anger towards the creators and mantainers of social injusice, carrying such convincing US accent and slang that it is no wonder what is the target society. The music follows suit with innovative, intense heavy metal energy.

This 1993 release is a very mature, first full CD from a highly creative, angry band. Amazon offers this as an import, though it was released in the US by Metal Blade. Clawfinger's second CD, "Use Your Brain," 1995, is not offered by Amazon perhaps because of its more mature music, lyrics, and topics.

this is undoubtedly the greatest rap metal album i have ever bought. i had the version released in the UK which didn't have 'get it' on but did have another song which in my opinon is better than 'get it' but was probably removed because of the controverciality of it's title, but that copy got a really bad scratch and i couldn't find the same one so i bought this one. if you can i urge you to get the old version theres only a difference of one song but it's worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply the BEST Rap-Metal band in the World, September 13, 1999

After listening to this album i couldn't take my headphones off. Everywhere i'd go, even to do the shopping, i had to listen to it. When you listen to it, it transports you to another state of mind and just pass the time much faster. That is only one commodity.......
