This book is a bit dated - published in the 80's - but is still an awesome and enjoyable book. I read this about 10 years ago (a friend's copy) and recently was feeling rather nostalgic and decided to obtain a copy of my own. For young people today this book might seem dated because deaf people - and hearing people - didn't have all the technology that we have today. Some of these Deafinitions are significant and relevant to that time - such as the 'Mommy Spillman' controversy, as this book was written in a time where deaf people were standing out on their own and making their community more visible, and other Deafinitions will make you smile, especially if you're deaf yourself, a interpreter, or live with/grew up with deaf people, such as the 'Attenstomp' or 'Doth'. Overall this book is a amusing glimpse into the Deaf culture at that time, and is still a good read for people today.

Hilarious!,

If you want an in-depth, largely serious introduction to Deaf culture, check out *Deaf in America* by Carol Padden and Tom Humphries. When you're done with it, get Glickman's hilarious book, which starts where Rich Hall's hysterical *Sniglets* left off, coining new neologisms for various aspects of Deaf and hearing life. This book is a scream! (I am a sign-language interpreter, by the way.)
