Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

This manual was designed for any professional or agency wanting to help clients change problematic anger expression. The information is very concrete, and CLIENT CENTERED.

The unique aspect of this tool is that it is full of exercises, (more than 45), that help each client ASSESS THEMSELVES, which helps deal with resistance. The multitude of guided questions allows each person to feel some safety and LEARN AT THEIR OWN PACE. It is important to start where the client is at. Your client may not percieve the primary problem as anger, but identifies "parenting problems", or "addictions" as the main issues, which is just fine. Each unit is self-contained, and can be used in whatever order works best for your client.

This program is a "must" for any individual or agency that needs a comprehensive resource that is flexible enough to be used with clients of all ages in workshop settings, groups, or in one on one counselling sessions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dealing With Anger: A Training Manual for Professionals Help, April 3, 2000

This review is from: Dealing With Anger: A Training Manual for Professionals Helping Women (Ring-bound)
I have had the opportunity, over the last two years, to use Sandy's training manual to facilitate groups for women who have lived with violence, either as children or in an intimate relationship. These women have been told that the aggressive rage directed towards then is anger, so they are often very afraid that if they express anger it will look and sound like what they lived with. The information in the training manual encourgages women to explore the real feeling of anger, and practise assertive skills that allow them to express their needs and wants.
