I enjoyed reading this book. I did not read the last chapter on Southern Africa Policy, 1961-1971. The author Douglas Brinkley, an historian and professor, writes objectively. I enjoyed reading this book. I did not read the last chapter on Southern Africa Policy, 1961-1971. The author Douglas Brinkley, an historian and professor, writes objectively. If you are interested in learning about Dean Acheson's years after he left full-time public office (Dean Acheson was Secretary of State in the Truman Administration and an Assistant Secretary of Treasury under FDR), I recommend this book.
