James Dean At High Speed...a winner!, December 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dean, James at High Speed [VHS] (VHS Tape)
James Dean At High Speed is a nicely done documentary which clearly focuses on the late actor's untold passion and desire for speed and racing sports cars. The video offers a nice combination and balance of personal interviews, still photos and archival footage to convey the story line...one which earnestly begins during his childhood days in Fairmount,Indiana and stays with him until that 'unguarded moment' in 1955, when he died. The inverviews include those from fellow actors and friends; but the most telling stories come from some of the drivers that Dean and his 356 Porsche Speedster raced against at Palm Springs, Bakersfield and Santa Barbara. This video captures a well-documented account of James Dean's final days, including a detailed analysis of the bizarre traffic accident which claimed his life, and of the mysterious disappearance of Dean's Porsche 550 Spyder -- several years later. James Dean At High Speed will be most interesting to the actor's devotees (Deaners) as well as to sports car enthusiasts...who will gain a completely new perspective on this American icon's life. James Dean At High Speed ...is a real winner!
