5.0 out of 5 stars For my classical guitar
I love this thing. Using it with an acoustic AG-60 amplifier and it is doing a very decent job with my nylon string guitar.

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty good for a piezo pickup
I'm using it on a cello; it's easy to reposition and removes without leaving any mark. It has the usual peaky response of a piezo microphone, which can be tamed (but not eliminated) with EQ. All in all, worth the relatively low price.

4.0 out of 5 stars High quality inexpensive pickup, April 4, 2007
This review is from: Dean Markley 3000 Artist Transducer Acoustic Guitar Pickup
This little pickup was the perfect solution for amplifying my classical guitar. Most acousitc pickups are magnetic and use a magnetic field to catch the sound, so that left me with very few options for amplifying my classical guitar (for those of you who don't know classical guitars have nylon strings). This was one of them. I ordered one due to the inexpensive price not knowing what I would get, but I was very impressed at the sound quality of this pickup. After adjusting the positioning on the guitar and the volume/tone controls on my amplifier, I got the guitar to sound like a mic'ed guitar...all of the guitar's natural unamplified tone was preserved, only the sound was louder. Just the sound I was looking for.

I also took time to try it on my steel-string guitar and mandolin and it performed very well on those as well.

The only drawback this pickup has is depending on the placement on the guitar you might experience a bit of feedback. The cable is very sensitive and will pick up on any movement. Other than that everything is great.

If you need quality amplification for your acoustic instrument and don't want to pay a small fortune for it, this is the pickup to get.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential, November 1, 2008

I got them for my cello. I say them because live I use two of them in different spots, plus a mic. My cello now sounds amazing live... (well, better than before, and except for my out of tune notes!)...

Don't forget, you can literally record anything with these: stick them on an organ paired with a mic... put them on a bathtub... I like creative recording and I've found them very useful!

My 15yo plays Mountain Dulcimer. A natural wood instrument- This piezo pickup is topped by a bit of wood. It blends nicely with her instrument. nothing metallic or shiny/glitzy about it. We use it with a yamaha practice amp and it sounds lovely!

I got this for my mandolin. I was pleasantly surprised how amazing the quality of the sound so i experimented. Works just as great on my mandolin as it does on my Dreadnought, Classical and Violin. It is a bit of a feedback whore with distortion. Your volume and tone adjustments are by placement near the bridge. Treble, Full Tone, Bass. I would have given this 5 stars but there is not a volume adjustment as far as a switch.

1.0 out of 5 stars would you like extra noise with your sound?, January 8, 2009
This review is from: Dean Markley 3000 Artist Transducer Acoustic Guitar Pickup
Bought this for my dulcimer after looking at the rave reviews. Maybe my ears are too sensitive compared to others but this sucker hums like crazy. I've actually returned it twice and both have serious AC hum. I ended up getting H&K pickups from Oregon and the sound quality is so much better and the derived SN ratio is much better. I wouldn't use this puppy for any serious recording but it does double very well as an amplified stethoscope =)

The worst piece of crap I have ever bought. The connection inside the input broke in the first five minutes, and is impossible to fix again.

I was looking to use this as a pickup for several acoustic instruments. The residue left on the instruments from the pickup is hard to get off. The sound quality lacks. There is no low end at all.
