Don Rickles Roasts Dean Martin,
By
This review is from: The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts: Dean Martin (VHS Tape)
In the 1970's and early 1980's, the Dean Martin Celebrity Roast was a staple on Thursday nights. It featured the best comedians of the current era, as well as the greats of the past. In this video, the man of the hour is Dean Martin himself.
What makes this video so funny is the host - Don Rickles. I have always loved the unique comedy of Don Rickles, and in this video, he begins with a 10 minute non-stop put-down of Dean Martin and the dias panel which is absolutely hilarious. As the show's special guests are introduced, Rickles appropriately uses them as fodder for his insane sense of humor in his introductions. This is one of the best of the entire series, thanks to Don Rickles. He is absolutely "on" during this event, and easily carries the show. Highly recommended. Jim Koenig

This video brings back some great memories and stars from the past. Lots of laughs. Would be better on DVD vs VHS.

Classic Television but too expensive!,
This review is from: The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts: Dean Martin (VHS Tape)
This is television at it's best. Many of the funniest stars of that time, roasting one another. The problem is, the whole set sells for $999. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002QZ2726?&tag=shopwiki-us-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325). 27 DVD's and even when purchased individually are $20 a piece + S&H. Why couldn't this have been sold by season with multiple discs at a more reasonable price when compared to other classic TV Shows releases. Classic Television, but a classic rip-off!
