This review is from: Dean Performer Mini Jumbo Acoustic-Electric Cutaway Guitar with Tuner Preamp Trans Red (Electronics)
I have owned several acoustic guitars including a Fender acoustic electric. Apparently, the acoustic electric guitars are considered to be primarily acoustic types. I understand from others that Fender is known for their electric guitars and this is one reason why I opted to purchase a Dean acoustic electric. I have never hooked either the Fender or this Dean to an amp, however. This guitar is a mini jumbo and I was delighted to discover that it is smaller than the dreadnaught (cutaway) Fender because I am a woman and the Dean mini jumbo is most suited to my frame (body) size. It also offers a beautiful high gloss finish. Aside from appearance, I do not notice much difference in the sound produced by the Dean versus the Fender. I expected the Dean to produce a richer sound due to its Brand reputation and the recommendations from others (including the advice that Fender produces better electric guitars). I found that there was little difference between the two; in fact, if I were blind-folded, I would have selected the Fender. I am wondering if perhaps this is true due to the difference in size - perhaps the resonance is lessened by the smaller body size of the mini jumbo. All other considerations aside, I did receive a great price and am happy enough with this mini jumbo. Recommended!
