5.0 out of 5 stars Great Deal - Great Dean!!!, August 8, 2009

This review is from: Dean Stealth Floyd Rose Electric Guitar with Case (Snake Skin Graphic (Electronics)
This guitar features all mahogany body. Set mahogany neck. Rosewood fretboard. Licensed Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo. Dean DMT pickup in the neck position and Seymour Duncan Dimebucker in the bridge position. 3-way toggle switch. Dime Traction Knobs. Grover Tuners. Comes in two colors - black (w/o Floyd Rose) and snakeskin (w/ Floyd Rose).

Guitar sounds amazing. Dimebucker has high output which is great for playing leads and doing Dimebag trademark harmonic squeals. The sustain is poor, especially considering the amount of wood on the headstock and set neck construction. The headstock is heavy and it pulls down when playing standing up, which is pretty uncomfortable since you have to always hold it with your left hand. Other than that guitar is awesome. It looks and sounds amazing. I would give it 9 stars out of 10, but 5 stars out of 5. This is the best Dean guitar I've ever seen. And also, the price is right.

wow man...I found the perfect guitar at the right price with this stealth, and I added it to my shopping cart so I wouldnt lose the guitar cause I was gonna order it a couple days later at a price of 399.99....but ill be damned if 1 day after adding it to my cart they jacked the price up to 599.99...needless to say I changed my mind about ordering it til the price goes back down to 399.00...I was happy when I found it so cheap the first time cause I dont have alot of money and this is the guitar ive been wanting for a long time...reconsider putting anything in your shopping cart ahead of time..MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!! Once again, the price went up...might wanna try a diffrent site to order from. drop the price back down to $399.00 and I'll buy today.Danny Columbus OH

What can I say.....I bought this as a gift for my son expecting it to be a fairly good guitar, but I found it to be better quality, sound, and craftmanship than I could have wished for. It came in the case (which is larger than expected) with not a smudge on the finish. It was already tuned when I pulled it out for a quick check and just looks and sounds fantastic. I am no expert on guitars but I know how happy this will make my son for years to come!

When I saw the Dean Stealth Electric with Snakeskin Graphic and equipped with a Floyd Rose locking tremelo available as a lightning deal for 40% off I couldn't resist grabbing one. I actually wasn't even looking for a new electric but I've always had a weakness for "different" guitars. What made this Stealth so attractive (outside of the pointy-edged body and headstock) was its grayish-green snakeskin graphic. Talk about dangerous looking... besides being able to use it as a weapon (if you like to swing your axe around while jamming I'd suggest keeping a safe distance away from fellow musicians to avoid accidental impalement) even the volume and tone controls have snake fangs as level indicators on the clear lucite knobs. The signature plate says Dime in tribute to the late Dimebag Darryl who was undoubtedly the inspiration for the original design of this over the top electric guitar. As a final touch, the 12th fret inlay is a mother of pearl razor blade.
Having never owned (or even played) a Dean before, I was hoping that I would like the way it felt in my hands. With its front and center looks I sort of assumed that it would sound pretty hot. The 1st thing that struck me when I lifted up the (included) hard-shell case was how HEAVY it was. I couldn't believe how LARGE the case was either. This is one guitar that I would not looking forward to taking on the road if I didn't have a roadie to carry it. Opening it, I was knocked out by the Stealth's flash. Extremely flamboyant. This is also one large guitar; especially the lower body points. Upon strapping it on I couldn't help but notice its weight (much heavier than my Les Paul Smartwood for sure). The guitar was pre-strung and pretty much in tune right out of the box. The neck was the widest neck I've ever encountered, which took a little getting used to (especially since, at first, the strings seemed just a little further apart than expected). I plugged the beast into my Line 6 AxSys and it just wailed. Before I knew it my left hand was used to the width (the smooth finish on the neck and frets was helpful) and my pick began hitting the strings cleanly. Oh yeah, no need to worry, this electric is going to have its uses for sure.
In summation, my opinion is that the Dean Stealth Floyd Rose Electric (snakeskin graphic) is a visual stunner that will turn heads. Unless you are comfortable showing off and are looking to keep all eyes on you, I don't see this as a workhorse type guitar. At least for me, I plan on pulling the Stealth out on special songs for that added kick. I don't really play much slide guitar but the neck seems perfect for it, so I'm considering trying it out as my special slide axe. We'll see how that works out, but no matter, with the dirt cheap price I got it for and high quality workmanship all over it my new Dean is a keeper. I'd suggest trying one out before buying, just to make sure the neck width, large body size and somewhat heavy weight are acceptable for you, but seeing that they are no longer being manufactured, that may not be possible. In that case, keep all of the above in mind and if you can get one for $500 or less, I'd say Go For It without concern and Rock Out!

5.0 out of 5 stars RIP Darrell, August 9, 2009
This review is from: Dean Stealth Floyd Rose Electric Guitar with Case (Snake Skin Graphic (Electronics)
I own a Washburn version of the DIME. This guitar sounds just as nice. It is slightly smaller in comparison but feels comfortable. The snakeskin look is amazing. The case is well constructed. With Seymour Duncan pickups and a Floyd Rose you can't go wrong...
