In the two-plus decades since Deann Alford launched her career at the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, her writing has appeared in publications as varied as Cooking Light and the Washington Post. As a journalist, she has written about ordinary people taking extraordinary action for good amid death and tragedy. She travels to countries and territories such as Pakistan, Gaza, Nigeria and Colombia—places that are far away, exotic, and potentially lethal. Alford has interviewed the powerful (George W. Bush) and the dispossessed (homeless churchgoers in Waco, Texas). Her beat is the world of human hurt and human hearts.
Her August 2008 cover story on NASCAR for Christianity Today magazine provided inspiration for her first published book, Circle of Hope: An Inspiring NASCAR Journey.
She lives with her family in Austin, Texas.
