I love this book! I got it probably 12 years ago (so it's a different cover than pictured here). I have read it several times. I find "Indian" captive stories fascinating. It is well-written. I would recommend this book to any young reader with an interest in American history.

I loved reading this book. Caty learned to love people that were not her own. That is what I love about this book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book was wonderful! It gives the true meaning of life and has very descriptive words. Also it has details and believable language then. It is depressing but real. I like how it enlightened the mood in the middle of the book. The love between Catherine and snow Hunter is unbelievable. I felt like I was in the scene of the book.

I am considered a "senior citizen" some days I feel it and others, well, not so much. I read these books before I gave them to my 9 year old grandaughter just to be sure of the content and language used. The books in this series are written by different authors but all done very well. All of them are written in diary form from the viewpoint of an adolescent girl. They deal , of course with the trial, problems, joys and sorrows of the times from the perspective of the diary writer. There are some especially poinant issues taking place in their stories.

This was one of my favorite books as a child and now as an adult, it is easily still one of my favorites. This is an emotionally touching tale that will have you seeing early settler/Indian relations in a whole new light

Wonderful book of Native Americans and Quakers. Nearly brakes my heart. Very bittersweet, though a little tear-jerking towards the end. Recommended to those with strong hearts and enjoy historical stories of hardships/survival/adapting to new. A bit of each in this, again, bittersweet novel. The title isn't the most fitting, except that the "Dear" gives away that the girl is recording her life in a diary. Another thing is that it's a true story, which gives it even more heart-ache.
