Dear God, It's Me Again! (Dear God Kids),
By
This review is from: Dear God, It's Me Again! (Dear God Kids) (Board book)
ASIN B0006RQYAW - Made in China. Age range not stated. Board book, 14 pages. Published by Flying Frog Publishing in 2000. Part of the Dear God Kids series. Series created by Annie Fitzgerald, no author or illustrator mentioned on the book.In a sort of Q&A style, notes from children to god are responded to - not by god, but by a never-identified person who speaks a bit like a pastor. This is followed by a relevant bible quote. This book isn't especially Christian; Jesus is never mentioned. So if you're one of those people who thinks there might be a god even if the bible is fictional, this book will still work for you. And, of course, the religious folks will like it, as it offers soothing god-related answers to just about everything. I'm not religious and don't like most things that ARE religious, but these books are cute and do offer soothing answers that aren't extraordinarily strange. There's no promise about living forever with god, or hints about healing the sick. All that's here is some simple answers: if life is hard, god will help you do the things that he wants you to do (so he won't help a six year old drive a car); if you want to talk, god will listen. It's pretty harmless stuff, all things considered, though I'd never expose my child to it. - AnnaLovesBooks |
