As in the bestseller Dear Jane, a fascination with pieced and appliqued antique quilts is the basis for Dear Hannah. Through 28 charming letters to her granddaughter, the past is woven with the present to impart an appreciation for women and quilters throughout history.

About the Author

Brenda Papadakis, who has been making quilts since 1975, especially enjoys drafting and designing. She saw a photo of Jane Stickle's 1863 quilt and became so enamored that she spent the next five years researching the life and times in which Jane lived. The book "Dear Jane" is the result of that labor.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wealth of ideas!, February 22, 2004
This review is from: Dear Hannah: In The Style Of Jane Stickle (Paperback)
What an amazing book! Better than I had hoped, this book contains 144 block patterns, including 72 appliqued flowers, birds, and animals, and 3 dozen pieced blocks. There are a number of different quilts pictured in the book made up using some or all of the blocks, in different layouts and colourways. There is even a redwork version! When purchasing I thought I would be working on one quilt for a while but now I have been inspired to do half a dozen different quilts from this book. Absolutely fantastic and great value!
