I have recently purchased this software to make the ever so popular DJ quilt. I am amazed at the ease in which you can use this software! I love it! Not only does it allow you to choose your method of piecing but it also has the instructions, templates etc. right there! That means no drafting or figuring out how to make the blocks! Anyone who is making this quilt from the book, you should definatley look into this as a compliment! Sure does make the daunting task ten times easier!

Oh and if you are wanting to make this quilt but do not like the small size of the blocks- you can enlarge them and the instructions right throught the software! Genius!

The Dear Jane Software by Electric Quilt Company was my first quilting software purchase. Any time you are new to a type of software, there is a learning curve. Luckily, the manual has lessons in a workbook style that allow you to view the process and follow along step by step. I didn't use the lessons before starting my quilt blocks so it can be done without but I don't recommend just jumping in. For a gift, I recieved a copy of EQ6 shortly afterwards and accessed this software through the EQ6 prgram.

I highly recommend this software if you are interested in historical quilt blocks, miniature blocks, the full Dear Jane (Jane Stickle) patterns and/or samplers. I began my journey using this software and more recently added Dear Jane. The EQ patterns save considerable time that would have to be spent constantly re-drafting book patterns. I began in January 2010 and as of today, have 57 blocks complete already. I'm hoping to have all the blocks done in just one year. This would not be possible with the book alone.

As in other versions of EQ software, this one allows printing options to tailor patterns to your quilting style. Most blocks offer applique, rotary cutting, templates, and paper piecing instructions. It's fantastic! Plus, you can adjust the size of the blocks in just a click---the program does the math for you! LOVE THAT!! The traditional pattern calls for 4.5 inch finished blocks...want to make them larger (or smaller though I can't imagine)? Click & Viola!

If you are planning on making a Dear Jane quilt this software will save you so much time. It allows you to chose how you'd like to piece the block and will print appropriate pattern piece, paper piecing patterns or rotary cutting directions.

This is a very complex program and you will need to spend considerable time working thru the instruction booklet exercises to get it to a functional level. Once there, the possibilities are endless!!

This is great software once you learn how to use it. I am enjoying making the blocks so much.
