5.0 out of 5 stars I see my son, July 29, 2000
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
I received this wonderful book over a year ago when I was in the hospital having my son. A few months later his father left us. I received several parenting books, but didn't feel like reading. I was busy finding a job and feeling sad and scared. One day I decided to finally clean up the books stacked up beside my bed, and I was drawn to this book. For me to take the time to find this site and to write this, means I am motivated (I have never done this before). I don't know who will ever read this, but I want to some way say "thank you"! I love the way the book is written, it is written from my baby son to me. I "see" him now... I understand his feelings better... and I even understand my feelings better. I realize he has been going through hard things because I have been struggling. I have grown up over night! I am the MOM, and my job is to understand and care for my child! I got so much from the house cleaning and cooking section- My gosh - I never thought that much about the house and how it affects us... Thank you, thank you! I wish more young Moms could have this great book so they could SEE what these little kids need from their parents!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good common sense!, November 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
Since I teach parenting classes, I have been looking (for years) for common sense parenting books. Thank goodness I ran across this one! My teaching efforts are simplified, the parents are not struggling to understand, the awareness and progress with the younger teen Moms is amazing! I recommend it to parents, grandmothers, teachers, day care workers and anyone who cares about children.

5.0 out of 5 stars As an Instructor I am grateful, October 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
I work with parents or teen and single Moms on a regular basis. I am always looking for parenting books that will help me be more teachable. DEAR MOMMY DEAR DADDY certainly filled the bill! How wonderful to finally find a parenting book that expresses needs, wants and concerns of young children. I see it as a special training program for the parent from their child. So easy to follow and to understand. When I use the common sense (basic) messages in the book, my class actually listens. When I ask them to read a section, they actually read it (and understand what it says)! I have overcome many obstacles because of this wonderful parenting book, written as if by the baby & young child. "Thank you!"

5.0 out of 5 stars This Grandmother wishes she had this book 40 years ago!, October 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
Where was DEAR MOMMY DEAR DADDY when I was rearing my four children years ago?! No one talked about what they couldn't do back then. You had to act like you knew about parenting, and then cried yourself to sleep. I see a new problem today. Most young parents are open to talking about their children, but they don't want anyone giving them advice (as if their babies are property they own "No one is going to tell me how to raise my kids!" OR "It's no ones business how I raise my kid."). "YES IT IS!" It is everyone's business! It took me half my life to figure out parenting but no one wants to listen. This wonderful parenting book does it! It gives the many "basics" all little children need in order to feel safe and loved. I wish I could donate this book to every new Mom in America! All of my family and friends have copies, and I hope others will do the same for their loved ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Working Mom finds help, October 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
As a "tired" working Mom I many times feel guilty and sometimes overwhelmed with the needs of my two children. I want to be a good Mom but being tired presents real problems. When I read this book I immediately saw my children as little people with their own struggles too! I look at each day differently now. They don't seem like such a burden any more. They are actually the center of my day and I enjoy them more than ever. Because the book helped me really see them, I want to understand them better. All of this doesn't seem so overwhelming now. I understand the meaning of "love" more because I understand the needs and wishes of my kids better. I am finally recognizing the meaning of being a "parent" and becoming more unselfish as I take care of daily responsibilities. What a wake-up call!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great books to make you understand children., September 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
This book is a great parenting book. It has made me think a lot about my children's needs. It is easy to understand and really makes you think about your child's feelings. It really made me think of how my actions are affecting my children even though they cannot communicate. It makes me want to be a better parent. I wish I had this book when my oldest was a baby. Children are wonderful and we need to help keep them that way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book! Perfect for any parent!, May 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
This book uses simple langauge-written from a child's perspective-which makes it so any parent can use the information. The guidelines for raising children are so clearcut and fun! I have read many parenting books. This one does not have a lot of "filler" information. It cuts right to the point in a fun and friendly way. A MUST for anyone who is raising children!

5.0 out of 5 stars My Baby says "Thank you"!, January 8, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
I have been attending parenting classes for teen Moms. If I didn't attend the class I could have lost my baby. I didn't want to give my baby up but I didn't want to do the work to take care of him either. My family was mad at me all the time because I would leave and go to the mall with my friends and hang out. I was suppose to be in school so I could graduate but I didn't want to do that either. It was the parenting class and counseling that really opened my eyes. When they gave us this special parenting book, I cried after I read a few pages. I finally saw what everyone was trying to tell me - "My baby needs me (I'm the Mommy) and my baby needs me to be responsible. I didn't understand what being a responsible Mom was until I read this book and went to the classes! I wanted to find a way to say "thank you", so my instructor encouraged me to find it on Amazon and so here I am... I read the other comments and I disagree with the one who said it isn't a good gift idea - This is the BEST GIFT I could have received (other than my baby boy)! I am also going to graduate from High School this year... (I feel much better about myself)

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a GREAT GIFT for young or new parents!, November 18, 2000
This review is from: Dear Mommy and Daddy (Paperback)
I am not too proud to say that I needed advice when I had my baby. If it wasn't for the hospital and their parenting classes I would have made a lot of mistakes. They gave me a copy of this great parenting book, and it helped me understand my baby better. I try to give it to my friends who live in other towns (their hospital isn't giving parenting classes or this book). When they receive the book, they have all thanked me, and it has actually made us all closer friends. We discuss our concerns more and aren't afraid to ask for answers anymore. We realize we don't have all the answers and it's OK to be real. I've never done a review before and my friend is sitting here helping me, but we want to let others know how much help from this book we have had. Thank you. Is there anyone out there who can give books to other hospitals, so it can help other young Moms the way it has helped me?
