Read it over and over to my son,

My 4 year old received this book for Christmas (2007) and it has remained a favorite of his over the past year. He constantly chooses this as one of his night time stories. Its a story about a Polar Bear who writes to his bear friends around the world and receives mail and presents from them (delivered by Postman Penguin).My son likes "animal" type stories more than "truck" type stories so I'd recommend this book if your child likes other animal books (e.g., Mitten by Jan Brett or Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle). This book has some pull ups/pull opens (to read the mail) that have come loose but that is not a big deal. We do not have any books with pull ups/pull opens that have survived 100%. The pull ups/pull opens are still in place, just a little loose. update 12/2011 -- my now 7 year old still enjoys this book!

A delightful book full of surprise letters and parcels.Not only is the story light hearted and fun, but it is also educational. Children learn about the different bears and where they live and what they like to do. This is a must in an Early Childhood class and at home. A great read and a wonderful book to share and revisit.
