Book Description

August 1, 2003
USA Today bestselling author Wendy Corsi Staub takes readers on a harrowing ride as three hopeful women find themselves caught in a madman's seductive, deadly trap. On a windswept New England island, he waits, fingering the satin-and-lace wedding gowns he's had made for each of them...the dresses they will wear when he kills them. Three women have come to the Bramble Rose Inn. For Sandy Cavelli, it's a chance to meet the romantic man who answered her personal ad. Liza Danning hopes to land a publishing deal with a reclusive author. And for Jennie Towne, it's an opportunity to get away, even if it means pretending to be her twin sister who won the weekend in a charity raffle. They're three women with nothing in common...or so it seems. Now, as a storm bears down on the eerie, isolated inn, three women are plunged into a terrifying fight for survival. For someone has chosen them, someone consumed by revenge, someone who wants to have them all for better...for worse...till death do us part.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Scary...the characters are well drawn, and the atmosphere suitably gothic. Staub keeps the readers guessing."

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Just Wow!, August 15, 2003
This review is from: Dearly Beloved (Mass Market Paperback)
All of Wendy Corsi-Staub's books keep me on the edge of my seat but this one was a real page turner for sure. So many people could've been the culprit, it was truly a surprise to find out "whodunit". With so many other writers, I find myself figuring out the plot by the time I've read the first half of the book, and turn to the last page to confirm my suspicious. When I read Wendy Corsi-Staub's books, I'm so captivated that by the time I get to the end of the book, I realize I never even wanted to read the last page! I'm always too caught up in the plot to spend a lot of time trying to stay a step ahead and figure out the ending! I've read a lot of fiction / suspense authors' stuff and I have to say that Wendy Corsi-Staub is my favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and Suspensful, February 11, 2002

I had to search high and low to even find this book but was glad it was at least worth it! It is a good quick read about three young ladies who, under different circumstances, get lured to a small inn on an island in Massachusetts. They have all been targeted by a sicko who is out for revenge. Things are made worse when there is a big storm and the girls are stuck on the island for the weekend. It is creepy and entertaining like most of Ms. Staub's novels. It is very much like a Carlene Thompson novel. Worth a read but not earth shattering.

4.0 out of 5 stars What goes around, comes around, January 20, 2006
This review is from: Dearly Beloved (Mass Market Paperback)
This saying could never be more truthful than in this book. Sandy, Liza, and Jennie (pretending to be her twin sister) are all about to make a journey in which not all of them will survive. The past is about to come back to haunt them in the form of a man who has been a part of each of their lives.

Ms Staub has written a good solid thriller, it's not really a mystery because fairly early on she reveals who this stranger is. The intrigue of this book is the unfolding of the story and learning how each woman made an impact on this man's life and how he reacts to that impact. The characters are fun, real, and engaging. If there is a moral to this story, it's be careful how you treat others, you may not live to regret it.
