I hated this book! To Expensive!,
By Me "Dog Lover" (Northern CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Death of an Adult Child: A Book for and About Bereaved Parents (Death, Value and Meaning) (Hardcover)
I hated this book and I disliked the author. The book made me angry and depressed. Some parts did relate to my experience grieving the death of my 28 year old son but the book offers little more hope then being able to get out of bed in the morning and walk through the grocery store without crying. I grieve my son. I miss him but I do not give up hope or accept the loss of joy for the rest of my life. For me I want to read a book that focuses on what we can learn from our experience, how our love and our deceased childs love is eternal and to offer me hope for joy in my future not some endless heartache preventing you from even spending a holiday with a grandchild. I am sorry but I found the author to be arrogant and self centered. Why does this book cost so much? What a waste. Save your money and buy 2 to 3 books for the price of this rip off.

The Death of an Adult Child,
By
This review is from: The Death of an Adult Child: A Book for and About Bereaved Parents (Death, Value and Meaning) (Hardcover)
I originally purchased this book four years ago when my daughter of 33 years died suddenly. I marked the margins where I had experienced a similiar feeling or fear. Now a few days past the anniversary of the fourth year, I return to this same book and re-read. It is a lonely road at times and this is not the place to share personal grief. But it is the place to tell another I highly recommend this book in their grief. It helped a lot when needed most. This book is one of probably 35-40 books I purchased to find answers. Many were Christian and about faith. Favorites stand out and this book is counted among favorites.May this paragraph say thank you to the author, you touched my heart with your work. Thank you for sharing your pain and that of others who responded to your survey. You are appreciated and remembered as I reread.
