Volume IV continues to report, editorialize, and speculate on Marine Corps Scout Sniping. We write for snipers and those interested in the art. Much of what we write about is not considered politically correct. We could not care less. Sniping, it sometimes seems, is supposed to be efficiently carried out, but no one is supposed to publicly mention or notice the dangerous and demanding duty. The Scout Sniper really is an enemy's worst nightmare. Not only do Scout Snipers discover secrets, they kill important people.

If our words are insensitive, so be it.

The Scout Sniper is the Marine Corps' most potent and cost-effective weapon. Until the Corps is willing to stand up and recognize that effectiveness and the Scout Snipers' essentiality, the snipers role will continue to be misunderstood, mismanaged, and downgraded.

Lt. Col. N. A. Chandler, U.S.M.C. (retired) was an active duty Marine for twenty-four years. He has been both a Rifle and a Weapons Company Commander. Distinguished with rifle and pistol, he is the creator of the Chandler Sniper Rifle, arguably the finest sniper rifle in the world. Col. Chandler lives with his family in Jacksonville, N.C.

Roy F. Chandler, MSgt. U.S. Army (retired) was an active duty soldier for twenty years. A veteran of WWII and Korea, he operated a sniper school, and during the 1950s he was a test NCO at the arctic Test Board in Alaska. Roy Chandler has been a nationally recognized big game hunter and writer for forty-five years. He has authored 57 published books.

Myself being U.S. Army Sniper respect the effort, detail and accuracy Chandler & Chandler placed in this exceptional five volume set "DEATH FROM AFAR- Marine Corps Sniping (vol. I-V)".
Each volume is mass of information and trivia for the long-range shooter. There is much history and deeds to read between the covers of each volume. The series of volumes cover a horde of topics on weapon systems, scopes, day/night optics, training, tips, trivia, history, insignia, operations, personalities, missions and the list goes on and on.
The books are oversized hardcover with loads of illustrations and pictures. The text is clean and crisp. The content is not all that structured in any kind of order; it can be a little difficult at times to find certain information. I believe C&C realized this themselves and added an index in volume five covering all the data in the previous volumes.
This series of books is destine to become a very sort after set of books on the topic of sniping if not all ready. It is a must own for any true military historian, sniper or marine. C&C thanks again for a great job!
