5.0 out of 5 stars Superior action adventure!
Top notch page turner! I've read most of the Machinko books and this one ranks right up there with the best! A fast paced story about a young SEAL officer trying to cope with the memory of his hero father. Author's website SEALSTRIKE.com indicates a sequel is on the way!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very little to like
One could forgive Mr. Strong for not having Tom Clancy's command of the genre, but his failure to develop a single character in the book makes it a frustrating read. The only part of the book worth reading is the combat sequence at the end, but even that lacks the punch one would expect from someone who's actually "been there." Death Before Dawn left me thinking that...

5.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Adventure!, May 27, 2003

I couldn't put this book down. It was a great story filled with just enough technical material to give it authenticity without being tedious. The author takes you for an insiders look into the SEALs and their combat methodology. The characters are believable and compelling. I just ordered the author's new book The Warrior Code: SEAL Strike Book Two. ... Two Thumbs up!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great SEAL combat story!, December 26, 2001

I really enjoyed DEATH BEFORE DAWN! I've read a ton of SEAL and special forces books but this one was different. I felt like I was evesdropping on an actual SEAL mission. Most books use all the right words and lingo but this story made you FEEL what it's like to be a SEAL going in harms way. A must read for all military action enthusiasts!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful heroic tale!, January 6, 2003

This was one of the smoothest reads I've ever experienced. I used to read Tom Clancy but the stories became bogged down in a ton of boring techno-detail. Mr. Strong's first effort is obviouly directed at readers who want to learn more about the inside world of the elite SEALs without becoming eligible for college credit. I enthusiastically endorse this novel to anyone who enjoys a fast paced action oriented story about real life heroes. I'm sure the missions outlined in this book are being conducted all over the world now that we are at war with terror.

Death Before Dawn follows the actions of Matthew Barrett, United States Navy SEAL, as he leads his handpicked team of elite SEALs in pursuit of an Islamic fanatic. The novel is very fast paced and considering the tragedy in NY, it is an appropriate book for every American to read! If you really want to know what the U.S. Special Operations guys are going to do overseas - READ THIS BOOK!

Touched my heart like no other book ever has. It was very informative and it gave me insight on what could possibly be going on in Iraq. The Navy SEALS and the rest of our military continue to fight for OUR Freedom and we should be nothing but grateful! The SEALS are truly the unsung heros.

GOD BLESS our Military Men and Women.

Training for, and execution of, a SEAL operation. Inside account of details of how a team conducts its business. (Example: What is the sequence by which you get the team across an open road, and why is this the prescribed method?) No dames.

At thirteen bucks, a little pricey for a paperback, but a good value for the money. The large number of typos in the text was a bit annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving Story!!!, April 12, 2005

I've followed Mr. Strong on FOX News for the last three years and recently saw him in a History Channel special on terrorism. This novel and the sequel (The Warrior Code) touched me personally. My Father was a Helicopter gunship pilot in Vietnam and often spoke about the warm bond between men in combat. Death Before Dawn speaks directly to that theme. I also ama big fan of Mr. Strong's OPED articles - most are posted on his www.sealstrike.com web site.

I'm getting ready to deploy with my unit to Iraq and was told about Mr. Strong's books by a buddy who watches Strong's counter terrorism commentary on FOX news. I couldn't put this book down! Death Before Dawn is a have to have book if you want to learn how special ops really go down. I went to the author's web site at www.sealstrike.com and read his detailed bio and he's the real deal! Can't wait to read his second book The Warrior Code.

Read this book!!!
