5.0 out of 5 stars What is going on?
I really enjoyed this book. I read it in about 3 hours. It has got to be a part 2 to this because you all left us hanging in the end. But I must say this was truly a real good book.

Death Before Dishonor is one of the worst pieces of trash I've ever read. It starts with ex-con Trill Johnson running from the law. His truck is full of drugs and when he gets stopped by a racist cop who is determined to send him to jail, he runs for his life. While involved in a high-speed police chase complete with helicopters, he runs into a neighborhood shedding his gun and his chinchilla coat in the process. Sunni James, owner of a 24-hour beauty salon, happens to live in the neighborhood he runs into. Since she can't stand to see a black man in trouble, she invited him into her house to hide from the cops. There's my first problem. I don't care who it is, if you're being chased by policemen and helicopters there is no way I'm letting you into my house. But okay, I went with it. Sunni and Trill have one night of passion and all of a sudden he's into her. By the way, he lives with his one-legged girlfriend who took care of his son while he was in jail. But forget the woman he's got at home, he sees a new toy and just has to have it. While he and Sunni develop a relationship, his girlfriend--Precious Pay, a gold-digger through and through, but his woman nonetheless--gets left behind and she jealously decides to get her revenge.

I am all for artists who want to be musicians, actors, and entrepreneurs, but you can't just add writer to your name. 50 Cent has proved that much with G Unit books. I've read another of the titles, Baby Brother, which is slightly better than Death Before Dishonor, but not by much. These stories are big on sex, drugs, and violence, and short on plot, character development, and reality. I know they're novellas and therefore can't be as fully developed as a full book, but there was no reason for 50 to waste my time like this. I'll know better than to pick up another G Unit book.

1.0 out of 5 stars No need to give 50 props, February 4, 2007

This review is from: Death Before Dishonor (G Unit) (Paperback)
I must say I love Nikki Turner. She is definitely the "Queen of Ghetto Writing" but please don't give this book 5 stars because 50 cent through his name up on it.

The book starts out really good. If you are a person who loves to read long novels...this is not the book for you 194 pages... (UH NO)

The ending was very rush rush....making you want more but not giving enough information to assume there will be a continuation.

I wouldn't suggest this book to anyone...sorry 50 try again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ms. Turner & 50 Cent doing it big, January 16, 2007

This book was really good, it definately holds your attention from page 1 all the way through the book. I know there has to be a part 2 coming because the ending leaves you in suspense. I was kind of upset the book ended so quickly but its a great quick read that you can finish in 1 day. Good job Ms. Turner I look forward to part 2 coming out u cant leave us hanging without knowing whats the deal with Trill.......

3.0 out of 5 stars What???, January 18, 2008

As soon as I flip through the book and saw all those blank pages, making the story less than the 194 pages I thought it was, I was disappointed.
It took me a quick three hours to read this. The story itself had potential, the drama factor was there, but was lacking substance.
And as for reality...who on earth would open their back door to someone who was being chased by police cars and helicopters?? The characters were underdeveloped, and there were too many unanswered questions. I was pissed when I got to the end and realized the authors left the story hanging...what was that all about? I would like to have a word with these authors to find out their reasoning behind this!
Now, with two powerhouses like 50 cent and Nikki Turner I expected much, much more than this! These two are excellent in their respected crafts but together...I'd have to say two thumbs down on this one!

This review is from: Death Before Dishonor (G Unit) (Paperback)
Wonderful read, drama packed, great characters, and priceless humor!
Trill is a real baller, Sunni is a down chick, and Precious...well Peg-leg. Great job and I can't wait to read the sequel...there will be a sequel right? There has to be a sequel!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but its time for a change...., February 18, 2007

This review is from: Death Before Dishonor (G Unit) (Paperback)
The urban fiction genre is becoming redundant--Like why does every chick have to own a hair salon and why does every dude gotta hustle? I don't know, maybe its me...

I give this book 4 stars because the story line was good and there was a lot of plot twists that kept it interesting...However I couldn't feel how Sunni flipped from money over men to running bath water and catering to Trill so easily--They could have built that up some because she seemed like a totally different character....This book defiinitely leaves you hanging and there are a lot of issues left open...Hopefully there will be a sequel

5.0 out of 5 stars Kudos for Curtis & Nikki, February 9, 2007

As with all things, you'll never be able to please everyone. I think both Nikki Turner and Curtis Jackson a.k.a. "50" did an outstanding job on this novel. It definitely leaves you wanting more as the other readers mentioned. Please tell me there's a part II! I think as "black people" we need to commend our people more as oppose to tearing them down. Great job as always Nikki Turner and G-G-G-G Unit.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nikki Turner...should have known better, October 5, 2007
This review is from: Death Before Dishonor (G Unit) (Paperback)
I am a big fan of Nikki Turner work. But Death B4 Dishonors was indeed the worst. No character development, absolutely no plot, and where was the reality...no where to be found. 50 cent should leave it alone.
