This review is from: Death and Burial in Medieval England 1066-1550 (Paperback)
I have been doing medieval research recently and this is the only book I found that tackles the subject of death (and burial) in both an analytical and personable way. The author never seems to forget the statistics he is writing about were once real people and he elucidates the subject matter very finely, broaching research for facets of the archeological work that otherwise a layman such as myself wouldn't have thought about before. He also is very clear when different theories are his or others' speculation and often offers more than one way of speculating the conclusions. Overall, a very informative and interesting treatise.
