This review is from: Death by Deception: Unmasking Heart Failure (Paperback)
I completely concur with clangley's review of this book. Death by Deception is the followup book to Dick Quinn's earlier book Left for Dead. In this book, Dick's daughter explains how congestive heart failure is most frequently there waiting for the person who survives a heart attack. She elaborates how cayenne saved her father's life, but how her father relied on it too exclusively to keep him alive and subsequently didn't make the lifestyle changes necessary for him to avoid eventual heart failure. She then goes into excellent detail describing how heart failure develops and what exactly it is. She describes all of the conventional treatments for heart failure and elaborates on the strengths and ultimate weaknesses of these conventional treatments. She then describes a regimen of using natural herbs--including of course cayenne--that help keep both heart attack and congestive heart failure at bay.I've recommended this book to I don't know how many people. I consider this book a must-read for any male over the age of 35, and a must-read for any female who's approaching menopause, the time heart disease creeps up on many unsuspecting women. If you don't ever plan on living this long, forget this book! Otherwise, whip out your credit card and order it already!!

A valuable book on congestive heart failure (CHF),
By A Customer
This review is from: Death by Deception: Unmasking Heart Failure (Paperback)
I knew Dick Quinn well. I knew him very well. He was a good friend. I saw Dick struggle with CHF -- the ultimate outcome of heart disease -- and I saw him recover using an exotic African herb that lengthened his life and made his struggle with this terrible life-threatening illness far less painful. For most, a diagnosis of CHF is a death sentence, but this book gives hope. This book is the only one of its kind that shows victims of CHF how to get a life sentence instead of a death sentence. Dick's highly successful lifelong struggle with heart disease and its ultimate outcome - CHF - is an inspiration to anyone struggling with this terrible life-threatening disease. Dick extended his life for many precious days (years actually) using a variety of herbs that modern medicine is reluctant to embrace. Some of these herbs had instant and immediate impact on his vitality. I know because I saw it. If you have, or know of someone with CHF, this book can help significantly lessen the suffering, and increase lifespans.

I wanted to see what Dick Quinn added to his currant book and how he was doing today. I followed his advice in the first book in 1995, just out of the hospital myself with a heart attack, I have not experienced ANY further heart problems to date. The herbs in combination work 100%. I thank him for his courage in sharing his experience with us all.

Read this one after "Left for Dead" and all I can say is that Mr QUINN has done an awful lot for me. I have several copies of both of his books to re-read, loan out and to just have. I recommend this book as highly as "Left for Dead".

I bought this book after reading "Left for Dead". I started following the Cayenne Pepper therapy after reading that book, but was really curious when I heard that his daughter had spoken of him relying too heavily on the Cayenne and not changing his lifestyle, so I also bought this book and loved it.I have had really nice benefits from the Cayenne Pepper therapy I learned about in his books. I have been in some degree of heart failure since I was 37 years old and 12 years ago, at 48 years old, went into CHF and was not expected to live long. I have used various therapies to stay alive but have been almost totally non-functional due to severe exhaustion, progressively worse each year. The Cayenne Pepper increased my energy a lot, but not to the level Dick Quinn speaks about it working for him. Still I am very pleased. For the past 12 years there have been 5 parameters on my bloodwork that have been out of whack due to the heart failure, and after only a bare few weeks on Cayenne Pepper therapy 4 or the 5 parameters are now completely normal, and the 5th is barely out of range. Still, though I have serious energy issues, but I also have MS so maybe that is why I haven't gotton the level of benefits from it that Dick Quinn received. But, the Cayenne Pepper has given me enough energy that for the first time in years I am doing more than I thought I could ever do again. His daughte is very right though, in that you cannot expect the herbs to do everything and keep you functioning and alive if you don't change your lifestyle. You need the whole package: the Cayenne Pepper, other supplements, healthy eating, exercise, reduced stress, balance in your life, and adequate sleep. Dick Quinn greatly increased his life - and quality of life - from what his doctors had given him, but if he had done the whole package he could have had even more. Still, I think that once your heart is that damaged you can only expect so much; you can buy time - maybe even a lot of time - but the heart issues are still going to take you out prematurely. After reading his books and others in his condition, it seems that there is only so much time that can be bought even under the best of conditions. According to everyones story I have read, and the time line, I apparently don't have much more time to buy - especially if I don't start doing 'the whole package'. But, perhaps if I really follow the recommendations in this book I can move that time-line quite a bit yet. I have put "Left for Dead" and "Death by Deception" front and center in my bookcases, to refer to again and again. And, remind me to follow the right course.

Left for dead,
This review is from: Death by Deception: Unmasking Heart Failure (Paperback)
Years ago I read this book by Dick Quinn and was very impressed. I am not a big fan of conventional medicine and fine it horrifying that so many people have surgery when there is often a much safer and better way. My husband and I keep Cayenne pepper on hand all the time. We agree that it is a wonderful herb as Mr. Quinns writes about in his book. There is a concern I have for thoes who read the personal death and life experience of Mr. Quinn that is found early in his book "Left For Dead." Mr. Quinn gave no reference to having a personal relationship with Christ. In fact he refers to his encounter with the presence he felt as "it" not knowing how to identify what he experienced. He said on page 4 that an overwhelming presence seemed to take charge of his spirit, life, soul. He went on to say.." By whatever name , my life was in it's hands". He said that as he left his body he felt no pain and that he wasn't tired any longer. He said that he felt comfortable, peaceful and powerful. After this experience he said that he no longer feared death. The Holy scriptures of the bible warn us that satan comes as an angel of light. Jesus Christ is the only sacrifice for sin. All man have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Jesus is the way the truth and the life. Whatever Mr. Quinn felt or anyone feels or imagines in near death experiences should be weighed by the truth of God's word. I pray that anyone who reads or hears life and death testimonies such as that of Dick Quinn will measure what is said by the word of God and not fall into deception. Man is not saved by acts of kindness as Mr. Quinn also speaks of. Salvation can only be found when one comes to repentence and humility that leads to faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone. John 3:16 For God so loved that world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him would not parish but have eternal life. Hopefully Dick Quinn came to this revelation and surrendered his life to Jesus Christ before He died.
