5.0 out of 5 stars For Collectors and Conjures - Not for the Fainthearted!
This little book consists of some general instructions and about 40 different spells to use against enemies. It is a collection of historical hoodoo workings in the grand tradition of Elbee Wright, Henri Gamache, H.U. Lampe and others whose slim volumes of arcane lore I collect with a passion. The difference here is the singular focus on causing harm. That is what...

1.0 out of 5 stars Hoodoo?! Who do you think your kidding!!
First off, If your looking for a formulary or any history of hoodoo/voodoo-this is not the pamphlet for you. If your looking for anything indepth-thats right, also not for you. This very short little "booklet" for 14.95 mind you-is a glorified advetisement for the store, advertised in the back. Since most of the "spells" need this root or that oil. Here is an example...

Here is an example. "For killing your spell-target" Dress your targets stair-rail or doorknob with Zula Zula Oil. When they touch it they will be affected. Thats it-on a full page! Most of the spells are only afew lines/half page. Of course this oil is also attainable at said store-which mind you, is a full 2 pages, with the thanks included!! If your interested in Hoodoo/voodoo Your better off checking out Lucky Mojo website. Tons of info, and a good starting place. Just because you throw a strangly named root/powder/oil into the mix does not make you a hoodoo practitioner(sp.). Anna Rivas books are even better than this!! And that in itself says alot!

2.0 out of 5 stars Depending on powders and oils... no recipe!, December 16, 2010

The spells seem strong and harmful, but... they are extremely dependant on commercial powders and oils to be bought.
If you don't have any access to such stores, forget about it. It would be much more useful with the powders and oils recipes (which herbs? which sands? back salt? etc etc etc).

1.0 out of 5 stars Only Book I ever returned, February 21, 2011

When I bought this, it had no reviews, so I took a calculated risk...and lost. When I came across it recently in Amazon's "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" section I was absolutely amazed to see several reviewers actually recommend it. For what it's worth, this is the only book I ever returned on Amazon - not because of the price, but as a matter of principle because I personally found the contents to be too banal to justify keeping it. I concur with the verified purchaser who reviewed on January 29, 2010, and while I could mention specifics, that review pretty much mirrors my experience and I see no reason to throw more gas on this sad fire.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Collectors and Conjures - Not for the Fainthearted!, February 18, 2010

This review is from: Death and Destruction: How to Cast Magic Spells for Vengeance, Harm, &c. (Paperback)
That is what makes this book a worthwhile addition to my collection.

The tricks provided range from throwing a little something down for an enemy to really putting on the hurt. Graveyard work, foot track magic, doll babies, bottles and candles - all of the main types of old-time conjure practices are covered. Real practitioners will likely be familiar with many of these tricks, at least in principle, but they should still be able to find some useful "inspiration" here. Note: this sort of work is not for beginners. If you don't already know how to make Goofer Dust, Confusion Oil or War Water yourself - and you really want to do these things to someone - it is probably best to consult an experienced root doctor.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Spells in this book WORK!, April 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Death and Destruction: How to Cast Magic Spells for Vengeance, Harm, &c. (Paperback)
I bought this book and did exactly what the author said to do. It took a little bit of time but the spells work!! For those of you who are not familiar with some of the ingredients, the author does have another book that tells the readers how to make certain oils, powders, etc. I have that book too and it is EXCELLENT. Saved me a lot of money by making things myself as opposed to buying them. Anyway, I think the author really knows her stuff!!
