Robert Barefoot tells it like it is in Death by Diet. His facts are backed up by solid scientific research, which is outlined in the book. It's astounding the amount of garbage the average American puts into their bodies, and still lives to be almost 80 years old. Barefoot stresses the fact that we are biologically able to live to a healthy 120 to 140 years, just by eating pure foods, and getting the right balance of nutrients in our bodies.

I have read his book, the calcium factor, as well, and there is some great information in this book that the calcium factor does not have. From what is outlined in Death by Diet, it appears that the three most critical minerals to bring into your body are Potassium, Calcium, and Magnesium. A cell cannot function without proper levels of any of those three. Often people look past a Potassium deficiency, but if you are the slightest bit deficient, your cells will misfire and you will feel sluggish and sick.

The diet is not the easiest to follow in today's fast paced society, but with proper supplementation with his suggested nutrients, we'll all see another 10-20 years tacked onto our lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest preventive medicine book, and real eye-opener!, November 9, 1999

I cannot extol this book enough! I learned more in this little 138 page paperback, than I have in ALL the books, pamphlets, brochures, etc. I have ever read! The knowledge, info. and formulas for taking charge and gaining control of your own body's health and preventing disease is priceless! Makes complete sense. R.Barefoot does an excellent job in explaining the technical parts of this book,(remember,he is a chemist). My next book will be "The Calcium Factor". Same author.

5.0 out of 5 stars What's the medical community so afraid of?, July 11, 2002
By
Cathy L. Craigo (Kennewick, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Death by Diet (Paperback)
In response to Catherine Connell.... apparently she didn't read the book very carefully. They do not rob the protected coral reefs in Japan in order to make the coral calcium product. The government of Japan has crews that go and remove the eroded coral sand from the reefs to protect them and keep them healthy and the coral calcium comes from that. Robert Barefoot's science is sound. If people take the coral calcium and don't have a good response or any response it wouldn't take long for Mr. Barefoot to be out of business. What is the medical community afraid of? It would not be the first time that there has been a sound natural nutritional answer to preventing and curing disease. I applaud those trying to help people live healthier and better lives through nutrition.

5.0 out of 5 stars To Hopeful (Outnaboutt) from 18 Nov review., December 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Death by Diet (Paperback)
Hopeful,
By all means give the coral calcium a try. I lost my youngest brother just 3 weeks ago to small cell lung cancer metastasized to the bones and liver. Just 3 weeks before he died he saw Bob Barefoot on television and was interested in trying the coral calcium. He had already done all the convention chemo and radiation and was almost dead from those treatments and had begun to realize that the oncologist could not "cure him" as he had so boldly told him he could. I should have taken it upon myself to order it for him....maybe it would have at least eased some of his pain, but I didn't. Instead I put him on a plane and hauled him to Texas to Dr. Burzynski who gladly took $7000.00 and was willing to take more, but my brother said, "no,
take me home". In one week he was gone. We were too late going to Dr. Burzynski and we never gave the calcium a try. He had lived 9 months from the first symptom. My advice would be read, read, read! Use your head...don't just follow blindly after conventional medicine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hopeful, November 18, 2002

I have read all the reviews on this book. I also read this book & "The Calcium Factor" as well within the past 2 weeks. My common sense is telling me to try Coral Calcium as well as the other vitamins etc, listed in the book. You see, I have terminal Cancer & have nothing to lose, & possibly everything to gain. I will be contacting Robert Barefoot tomorrow for exactly what I need. I have been to his web sit (www.cureamerica.net), & received additional info thus far. He says on his web site to contact him for help. These books make a lot of sense to me, not because i'm grasping for anything to help me live longer, but because common sense will tell anyone who reads these books that the possibilities are overwhelming. Perhaps it takes a terminally ill person to delve deeper into these books, than just certain people who have nothing better to do than be a poor critic. I have looked into (but not tried) other alternative medicines etc., however the scam-like people that are out there are way too obvious to say the least. I am writing this as a preview of what's to come in my case. I will continue to keep all of you up to date (if you're interested) as I progress in my venture. I hope to make the doubters' stand up & take notice, (& perhaps help themselves & their families be healthier) as I will when this helps me...I feel that even if it is too late for me, there is bound to be some change. Perhaps the treatment will cure the cancer, or extend my life, or help me feel healthier. Any improvement is welcome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you! Robert Barefoot, October 28, 2002
By A Customer

In answer to the afore mentioned article. Anyone who has read the Okinawa Program knows that the elders of Okinawa are the ones who are the healthy ones. The amount of cancer and heart disease is very low. The younger group on the island have succumbed to eating McDonalds and drinking sodas.....this is where the higher rates of disease come in. I think that Mr. Barefoot has some very sound advice and it can't hurt. I would rather try the calcium and see for myself how I fare with it. I have read many, many books and articles on all health issues and he makes sense. There are those who poo poo facts because they do not have all the information, or do not understand the information or facts that have been presented. I hope whomever reads these reviews will take heed and do what you feel is best for you. For me, Robert Barefoot makes more sense than most anything I have studied. It is time that someone has the gumption to step forward and state the facts so that we can all learn the truth about what is going on. The medical profession would be out of business if the majority of us got healthy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very important, excellent book on Health., May 19, 1999
By
This review is from: Death by Diet (Paperback)
When I first read this book, I was a little skeptical about some of the ideas presented. But now that I have used some of these ideas myself, I am most impressed with their importance for my health. I have also read his new book, THE CALCIUM FACTOR, and it is even better. I have a taped interview with Robert Barefoot that I would be willing to send FREE to anyone who loves this book like I do. --------------- I wrote the above review in 1999. I am now 64 years young. My biological age is 53, which is the biological age of an average American male 41 years old. Hundreds and hundreds of people have received the above mentioned taped interview. Some of them have amazing stories to tell. None of them has ever complained about having any negative reaction from taking Barefoot's Calcium Formula. Some of the reviewers expressed a negative opinion after reading the book. I am an engineer and I was very skeptical when I read this book and some of the unbelievable things he said about calcium. But, I decided to try his Formula and was greatly rewarded for doing so. Dr. Carl Reich successfully treated patients in California with milk, milk of magnesia, and sunshine. For his efforts, the Medical Board in California remove his license. He moved to Canada, helped thousands Canadians heal themselves, and wrote more papers about the results of taking calcium, magnesium, and sunshine or vitamin Dł. Dr. Carl Reich MD, Dr. Otto Warburg MD, and Coral Calcium Chemist Robert Barefoot were and are pioneers in the health through nutrition movement. God Bless them all!!! As pioneers, each of them took a few arrows, but they persevered and prospered and so should we. I strongly recommend reading this book! If you need more proof, email me (see email address above) and I will email you a more recent interview with Coral Calcium Chemist Robert Barefoot.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Calcium Factor, October 9, 2002
By
Ray Overturf (Hot Springs, Ar) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Death by Diet (Paperback)
I liked the book because it provides factual scientific evidence of the link between mineral deficiency and many degenerative diseases and what we can do to give ourselves a much better chance of a long and healthy life. This was presented as evidence from numerous independent studies, not Mr. Barefoots. So he wasn't tooting his own horn. This information if wrong could easily be refuted. I also see that he doesn't tell anyone to not go to a doctor if one is sick. He just explains that if we take care of the body it has the ability to take care of it's self. Mr. Barefoot doesn't, to my knowledge, receive any compensation from the sale of coral calcium. Also, many of the testimonials indicate that the person was going to a "doctor" for treatment of their disease(s) and added the Coral Calcium to their diet and had positive results. I think the information he presents is long overdue to the general public. I also have seen other books and information written by other scientist and medical professionals about the same idea.

The information has been very valuable to my family with very positive results!

5.0 out of 5 stars some are afraid of the truth, September 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Death by Diet (Paperback)
I think there is truth to this book.
First of all, yes you can get a lot of beneficial Calcium from milk and leafy greens like Kale, etc. However, in order to get a significant amount you would have to eat a lot of it. Milk is not even that wonderful of a source. Not to mention all of the antibiotic traces and hormones in cow milk that have not been proven to be safe on humans long term. The RDA daily% allocation is not necessarily a strict guideline for healthiness. Of course, registered nurses are going to spout on and on about meeting your daily requirements because that is what they were told to do by teachers who want to keep natural health alternatives down. Pharmacuetical companies keep their salaries high, so why would they want to endorse natural medicine?

My sister is in the nursing field and she quoted her professors, when she was schooling, as being strongly against natural alternatives to medicine. If people keep themselves healthy and fight their own illnesses naturally, then what would they need Dr's or Nurses for? They would be using them less. Barefoot does not claim that calcium cures you. He claims that calcium helps restore your body's healthly function so "your body" can cure itself.
Also, most multi-vitamins sold in supermarkets, etc are junk. Some calcim suppliments are so compacted that your body does not absorb more than 10%. The body does not recognize compressed vitamins and really does not absord much of the vitamins. It is very hard to find a decent vitamin that absorbs properly. Also, some people's digestive systems do not function properly and they rarely get a chance to absorb nutrients in the quality foods they eat. Minerals and vitamins are generally more absorable in liquid form. Or if the vitamin is compounded with a substance that the body recognizes as easily digestible, for instance carbohydrates.
They have done many studies on sewers in various cities and so much of the waste that comes out of homes contain high amounts of vitamins. Waste; that means that faithful vitamin takers do not necessary get any benefit from it. Their body cannot even absorb most of it. However, Coral Calcium is apparently more absorbable. His research only suggests that this form of calcium is one of the most easily absorbed forms. Everyone knows that calcium is one of the hardest minerals to absorb otherwise it would not be such a popular subject.
It does not hurt to try it. You can find good quality Marine Coral if you look. IF my body feels results after a significant amount of time, no harm done and i will continue. Fact is, I have been taking multi-vitamins and calcium supliments and I have yet to really absorb any of it or have any noticeable benefits. I eat good vitamin rich healthy foods all the time. My diet is low in fatty meats, high in veggies, fiber, fruits, proteins and I do eat some low fat meats occassionally. I know I am eating right, but I still lack extra nutrients that multi vitamins provide. What's the harm in trying to educate yourself and try something? It's not like it costs an insane amount unless you get scammed. Make your own decision.
Read the book, if you want to try and find some, do it. It's not asking you to do anything, it's is informing you of what his research has found regarding different forms of calcium and the one he finds most beneficial. The facts are pretty scary and Dr.s are not necessarily the most healthy beings on the planet. Why else would they be afraid of people learning more? Hmm--I think that is fishy.

4.0 out of 5 stars will open your mind in a positive way, November 20, 2002

This book is well worth the read. It will open a persons mind to what may actually be happening in regards to our health. Lets face it - the largest industry in the world - "Health Care" has expanded dramatically in the last 100 years - and at the same time our health has diminished - look at cancer rates, heart disease, diabetes etc.

History repeats itself - like the guy who was ridiculed when he said that sanitary was important - we will look back on authors such as Barefoot as people ahead of their time.
