Book Description

A woman fated to die. A vision that could save her ...

Nicolas Crystan, struggling to cope with his traumatic past, shuffles through life keeping mostly to himself ... until he has a disturbing daydream of a woman's death. At first he tries to forget it, but when real life mimics the daydream, he realises it was no ordinary fantasy--it was a vision of the future. To save a life, he must act fast.

When Juliet Maystone escapes death, defying fate, she becomes 'displaced' in this world. All she wants is to return to her bustling day-to-day routine, successfully running her own business, but as hard as she tries, she can't ignore that things have changed for her. She has to face up to the fact that being 'displaced' comes with an unexpected ability.

On Lansin Island, a quaint place with a dark history of its own, Nicolas and Juliet must learn to use their newfound abilities and work together to unravel a mystery more connected to Nicolas than he could ever have imagined ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Why you should read this book..... October 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am not as verbose as the other reviewers, nor am I the type of person to replay the plot and introduce you to the characters (isn't that the point of reading the book?). I will, however, tell you how the book made me feel and why you should read it.

If you love any kind of mystery and any kind of paranormal content then this is your book. Personally, I love the way the author connected all of the lives introduced throughout. I felt transported into their world and you will too. I was scared, happy in all of the right places. A good book for me is an escape, an escape from my life and a chance to jump into the world created by a brilliant writer, and Andy achieves this flawlessly. I couldn't put the book down (even missing my stop on the train). Andy tells a story the way it should be told: he gives you the perfect amount of detail without giving too much away too soon. I LOVED it!

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It is a must read for this holiday season.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great first in the series. October 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a treat!

While I'm not at all into ghosts and spooks - this book hooked my attention so well that I read this book in nearly one sitting (had to take breaks for house, kids, hubby :)
The characters are believable - the world building is awesome. I could see the fantastical setting for the "portal" as vividly as I can see my own room.

While paranormal experiences were spooky (well written!) - the characters that experienced them behaved like I would, or possibly you.

And the freakiest thing about the whole thing isn't even ghosts at all. But I'll let you figure that one out when you read the book. All in all thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling First Book Can Not Wait for the Next! November 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I find that too often I don't read many suspenseful thrillers, but when I do, I just can NOT put them down. Mr. Butch does a wonderful job of vividly describing characters, settings; you can smell the scents, envision the sights, feel the essence of everything he describes.

With just the right balance, we go back and forth between more than one person's life. We see them intertwine and with the perfect amount of revelation, one sits on the edge of what is to happen next. I truly want to see Nick (Nicholas) and Juliet come together, as I am a romantic at heart, but with all that has happened, who is to say that will come about? Mr. Butch obviously has a clear path laid out for all of the characters and I have enjoyed every page so far.

My only regret with this book, as has happened to me before, is it is part of a series! LOL Meaning I need to get the next book as soon as possible. I loved the back story and am inclined to look further in to some of the history that was mentioned. Even though it is fictional, as mentioned in the beginning of the book, it feels real!

Wonderful read for those who enjoy suspense & thrillers as well as those with curiosity of witchcraft, Wiccan or Pagan practices. I've done enough reading over the years to be able to follow along easily. Awesome job! Looking forward to book #2!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Start! October 21, 2012
A Death Displaced, by Andrew Butcher, is the first book in the Lansin Island Series. Lansin Island is place where magic and ghosts hold strong. The Islands history speaks of 100 witches being burned at the stake, and the Island never being the same. The story starts with Nick Crystan. Nick has what he believes to be a day dream of a woman who falls to her death right outside his work. But as the days go on, things begin to unveil that what Nick seen was not a daydream, but a look into an event that will happen in the future. Nick decides that he has to prevent this from happening and saves the woman, who's name is Juliette Maystone. Juliette runs away without even saying thank you. The story then switches to Juliette's point of view. After being saved from deaths grasp, Juliette begins experiencing weird things and feels really disconnected from her self. She consults her friend Tamara, who is a descendant of the Island's original witches. Tamara tells Juliette that she was meant to die, and explains that spirits will now come to her seeking help. From here on out, the story switches back and forth between Nick and Juliette until they are once again connected and brought together. I don't want to give away too much of the story, as that takes away the surprise of it all!

I absolutely loved this story and cannot wait to continue this series. Andrew Butcher did an amazing job and pulling his readers in to the series. There were times where I just could not put the book down. The author does a great job at introducing the characters as well as the plot. He builds a solid structure for the series to continue on. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. I look forward to reading the rest of this series, as well as other books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite an unexpected pleasure September 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I was intrigued when I read the little blip regarding this book wanting to engage my mind with a bit of fantasy, romance, history and mystery.

There are so many layers in this story and the way the author brings everything together is wonderfully entertaining. Nick works part time in a specialty store, Nick has visions, Nick struggles with depression and has family issues that need resolving, all these layers make for a very intriguing storyline to bring them all together. When Nick acts on a vision he has and saves Juliet their world changes and the story takes on a new depth involving Juliet and her issues also. Will they be able to come to grips with the changes Nick brought about by acting on his vision? Will any family issues be resolved? Will Nick get the girl of his dreams? All these questions and more swirled in my head while reading A Death Displaced. I immediately upon finishing went to get the second in the series because there was more I just had to know. Unfortunately it isn't released yet so I am looking forward to the release with much anticipation as to what is in store for Nick and Juliet.

*DISCLOSURE: I was given a copy of the book in exchange for my review favorable or not.

3.0 out of 5 stars Death and the Supernatural
A Death Displaced has a supernatural twist to it. It is an easy read if you're looking for something that doesn't require any thought. The ending was a bit abrupt.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the time
It just isn't well written. The story might be better if the characters and dialogue weren't so juvenile. I really enjoy this genre of books but not this one.
